PSA to all you dads raising daughters these days

Do their future husbands a favor. For the love of god please stop trying to raise princesses. They’re not princesses. They’re not royalty. They are human and yes they can be and do wrong at times.
I’m just about at my breaking point in my marriage (halfway joking, it ain’t that serious
), because my wife REFUSES to ever accept any responsibility for her actions. I’m only talking about minor household type shite. She’s a great mother, she is faithful and loyal to me, she’s a hard worker who never misses a day or work unless she’s sick or has something for the kids….
But for the love of god I cannot for the life of me ever get her to be like ‘hey you know what, I was wrong, I’m sorry’. Never. Not once. Her instant reaction is almost always, ‘yes well what about when you…..’. Something as minor as asking her to pickup the floor steamer or the mop out of the bathroom leads to a back and forth exchange fully detailing all my previous household transgressions (which I have already atoned for
) from the past 3 months
fricking drives me nuts
So dads…. Treat your daughters like a normal kid. They are still going to love you. Put them in team sports or something so they can learn how to share responsibilities and blame when shite hits the fans. Their future husbands will thank you for it
Sorry for the rant. Happy Sunday

You have daughters?
You think only “princesses” refuse to admit they’re wrong?

Marriage is a beautiful institution with great benefits, but stories like this reinforce why not being married also has its advantages.

Our house cleaner is very good she dosent leave cleaning material and hardware out when she's done. If I have to clean up after her then I need a new house cleaner.

You need to remember the type of people you are getting one side of the story from. The great majority of these dudes are selfish, bitter hypocrites

Oh trust me I have my faults as well, I’m far from perfect. But when confronted with something I did wrong or could have handled differently, I have no issues with saying I was wrong and genuinely apologizing for it. It’s the only way to move forward in a relationship that you value
My wife was the ‘golden child’ of her siblings. The first and only one to graduate from college. Never in trouble. Always good grades. Steady job since HS, etc… she’s just never had anyone come down on her or tell her that she’s ever done anything wrong so now that she’s an adult she has no clue how to handle any type of constructive criticism

I have an 11 yo daughter. I’m not sure it’s fair to blame her parents. Some people are just born the way they are. We can teach our daughter something a million different ways, and she’s still going to do it her way most of the time. It is what it is. Good luck getting over it.

I got news for you. That’s not bc her dad treated her like a princess. That comes standard on all models.

If this ties in with your spanking thread she’s old enough now to move on to psychological torture

You don't have put your kids in sports for them to be treaed normal. As long as you don't "helicopter" them and when they do make a bad decision make sure they understand there are consequences.
Also, if you are the true patriarch of the family you shouldn't need to feel validated with an apology. Just give them a reminder if they about to screw something up before it happens-- such as: Hey honey, you remember that time when you were cutting squash with they same knife and we ended up going to the emergency room. You may want to choose another knife or be extremely careful"

You should know before marriage if she is going to be high maintenance or not.
