Parking lot etiquette

When there’s an entire empty parking lot, except one car and someone pulls in, then they park next to that one car instead of one of the numerous empty spots. Why are people like this?
And more often than not that person who just parked typically parks way closer to you than they should.

I always pull in and park in the back of the lot to avoid getting stuck behind a slow fat arse trolling for a spot close to the front.

I hope somebody on here is one of these people so they can explain their thought process because I just don’t it

Not me, I seek a space with space.

The same bastards that see an empty movie theater on the ticketing app, and book their seats far too close to you.

Yea - not I. I generally try to park in a spot with at least one open spot next to it. Or maybe a spot on the end of a row. Like - i'll just go straight to the middle or rear of a parking lot at the grocery store or a restaurant or whatever to find those spots.

Is it a lot/place or time/day where it usually gets very crowded?

I park way TF away...
Almost got the '83 Vette paid off, don't want no door dings from the commoners...

It is a really deflating feeling coming back to your car, when you surely thought nobody would park this far away, and seeing your car surrounded by idiots.
I think the answer is that some don’t know how to park without using another vehicle as a reference.

When you park in the back 40 and some mook comes and parks right on you, they are trying to tell you they have way too much air in 2 of their tires.
Your helping them with that is appreciated.

Why do employees at places like Target park as close to the door as possible? Before the store opens it looks already crowded. Terrible management/customer service

I'm not sure the last time I've ever seen that to be honest.

What’s the etiquette on backing your car in? Same scenario: multiple empty spots but people are waiting while you back in, thoughts?
Posted on 1/24/25 at 7:43 am to turnpiketiger
I don’t care where you park but for the love of god don’t be a douche and spend 10 minutes trying to back into a space
Posted on 1/24/25 at 7:43 am to turnpiketiger
The fatasses that wait / drive around for several minutes trying to get a close spot and wasting time, instead of just parking farther away and walking are the worst.

Especially if you drive a two fiddy, you don't really have a choice, or you can't get out if an SUV or another truck parks at your 5-6-7 o clock in a tight parking lot. I back in 95% of the time since I no longer have 19 cameras like my truck did to make sure my alignment is right.

I can pull in any parking lot with 100 empty spaces and within 15 seconds some idiot will pull up right next to me and park.
I bitch about this all the time pet peeve

If you take up two spaces, I will spit on your windshield.
