NEW ORLEANS — A fire at the old Six Flags Park caught the attention of drivers in New Orleans East on Saturday night, according to the New Orleans Fire Department. Fire crews said a blaze on the tracks of a roller coaster was reported as people drove past the site.

NOFD said the fire is not a threat to public safety. The track that caught fire is about 15 feet of the coaster track and about 70 feet above the ground. "The topography of the area, isolation of the site, and location of the fire makes it completely inaccessible to New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) equipment and personnel," a release said.

Why hasn’t what’s left of the park been razed already

Someone had balls to walk up there and start that fire. The whole thing looks like it could collapse if a pigeon landed on it.

And the fire department said we can't get to it so we're just gonna let it burn. Very New Orleans.

Surely that was a lightning strike.

That whole thing burning down would be a blessing. Out of sight and easier to clean up/get rid of.

So movies can be filmed there? That’s my only guess.

Not that Louisiana doesn’t waste money on useless shite all the time, but who you think is going to pay to raze that?

Passed about 1130 and it wasn't on fire yet. Could have been me.

The necessary environmental impact studies and fact-finding committees haven't completed their work yet.

You all know the answer to this. Can't spend that money on the park, Teedy needs first class and spending money.
