Demi won the Golden Globe for best actress for it so wife and I watched it last night.

WTF did I just watch? I’m all for artsy and horror/gross but this was one weird arse movie. It’s like they took the Fly to a whole new level.

The critics and even fans praised it and love it, but I guess I just don’t get it. We will fight through about anything, but we thought about turning it off about 3 times.

Also, Demi Moore looks amazing for 63 and Margaret Qualley is stunning with the best rack I’ve seen in a while.

That alone was worth it.

I enjoyed it but it was 30min too long and the last act goes off the rails

Good point. We enjoyed the first hour. The last act was like an 80s B movie you’d see on Up All Night

Damn, prosthetics? Even her arse? Would still smash. Even Demi

Didn't love it. She was fantastic in it, but overall movie just wasn't my cup of tea. Its style of arthouse and attempt at shock and awe just wasn't appealing.

I know some that absolutely loved it though. I wasn't one of them.

acts 1 and 2 were interesting and they could have done a LOT more with the wrap up but unfortunatetly they channeled David Cronenberg for act 3 and ruined every bit of potential it had. so instead of making a meaningful statement it left me not giving a damn what they were trying to say

Agreed. I thought the 3rd act was way too campy and over the top but not enough to ruin the movie for me.

It was good but went completely off the rails at the end.

Say what?

I think you have that reversed. The first half of FDTD is fairly boring. It gets awesome once they get to the border/bar.

ETA: I am interested to see this once it hits (free) streaming. Not sure I'll like it, but the comments alone have me interested to see just how fricked up this movie is.

Mubi owns it, and they have their own streaming service. They regularly license other people's content, all of it foreign or indie. They have yet to license one of their films to another streamer.

No. It all goes to shite once Salma Hayek turns into a vampire.
