Mulkey is Sabanesque for sure. Her teams reload, not rebuild. 4 NCs are Sabanesque...

Johnson is really really good. There is no doubts that. I would call him Sabanesque, after 1 more NC or very consistent performance at the top of the SEC. But baseball is very competitive, more than any other NCAA sport. So that makes things harder to win consistently.

Wat?

No they aren't.

In ladies ball, Geno Auriemma has won 11 national championships and is still coaching.

Jay has as many Nattys as the coaches at Fresno State and Coastal Carolina.

Neither is remotely closely to being the Saban of their sports.

This is some little brother energy, and frankly, it’s sad.

We used to be a proud program.

He’ll need 6 more titles to catch Saban.

Even if he does win 7 total titles like Saban, Saban still did it in a more difficult sport to dominate because more schools are putting money into it and trying hard to compete.

There was another baseball coach at LSU who is considered the goat, you know?

What does that have to do with Jay Johnson being Nick Saban?

Baseball has more parity and therefore more difficult to dominate.

Saban won all of his NCs before NIL. He retired because he realized his model of running a program would not work in the NIL era.

Johnson isn’t skip Bertman. Bertman is the measuring stick in college baseball

Ummm. No.

Mulkey could make a case that she’s close. Johnson has to win a few more titles to not be even laughable as a comparison.

We need to relax on the Jay Johnson deifying.

He's a portal king which is the key to success in this day and age of college athletics, but if you were to compare Mainieri's first three seasons at LSU and Jay's first three, Mainieri wins that argument... and Mainieri took over a worse situation than Jay did.

I think we will win more titles with Jay, but I also thought we would win more titles after 2009 as well, and we just didn't.

Mulkey is close, especially if she gets another title or two. She's probably closer to Urban Meyer in terms of resume although more similar to Saban in style and character.

Johnson is young and has 1 title. He might be similar to Saban after his LSU stint. Probably closer to Kirby for now.
