All the dumb dick, stupid parents who are waiting until the very last minute to evacuate and are being trapped on highways as embers blow across, and their kids are screaming frantically, telling their parents not to let them die

Not going to post videos, but there are loads of them out there… but in all seriousness, like what the frick, that massive fire has been burning relentlessly for a week, what in the frick are you still doing there with your kids?

My family would be gone immediately with important belongings. I would stay behind longer if necessary but they would need to be out of the area first

I'll take my chances with a hurricane, at least you know it's coming and you have time to prepare and GTFO

When were those videos you are talking about taken? There aren't many people evacuating under duress right now.

It was an entirely different story when the fire was first raging through neighborhoods.

ETA: Neighborhoods were already involved and roads were becoming blocked by abandoned cars before the first evacuation order came out.

Do we though? Not on this scale.

A lot of these people seem to have little common sense or respect for nature.

As Americans we should just pray for them and send donations.

That's fine, Timothy...but throw up a prayer or three (3) for your fellow Americans...

Unlike hurricanes where you have days and sometimes weeks of existential dread, wildfires give you hours and sometimes minutes. What if you’re asleep? Your phone is off?

Not every person caught in one is an idiot or reckless

2016 Flood was at least 100,000 homes flooded. I think they are around 10,000 homes lost to the fire.

Lol. I think I’ll take my chances with some wind and rain over an out of control raging fire.

When's the last time they had a fire of that magnitude in that area?

We routinely get hurricanes and we still have to get idiots out...

Legend in the main thread posted a timeline wherein the biggest fire started and then ran though some neighborhoods in less than two hours, crossing many natural and man made firebreaks.
