All season long we’ve brought you the weekly Top 5 and Bottom 5 players according to Pro Football Focus.

Now that LSU has wrapped up its 9-4 season, let’s look at the starters and key contributors who graded the highest and lowest in 2024.

HIGHEST GRADES:

Garrett Nussmeier, QB – 83.5
Bradyn Swinson, DE – 83.0
Zy Alexander, CB – 82.2
Garrett Dellinger, LG – 73.5
Caden Durham, RB – 73.4

Nussmeier’s production this season was second best in the history of the school. He threw for over 4,000 yards and topped the 300-yard mark eight times. His grade was 75 or better in six games, and he never dipped below 60. Coincidentally, Nussmeier’s lowest grade was 60.5 which is where he graded out in both losses to Texas A&M and Alabama. His 89.5 against Baylor was his best grade.

LOWEST GRADES

Paul Mubenga, G – 46.8
DJ Chester, C – 50.6
Shone Washington, DT – 56.0
Jardin Gilbert, S – 56.9
Major Burns, S – 57.6

The struggle in the transition from Dellinger to Mubenga after Delly went down (during A&M) is pretty telling from these numbers. Chester next to Mubenga made for a very weak IOL.

And then there's safety. Yikes! Whatever portal money remains needs to get safety help.

Safeties were horrible even without the metric of PFF to back it up. Eyes did not deceive.

This should be the last thread ever with the mention of this name.

Also, Zy is going to be a stud pro.

I'm shocked

Lotta bad takes in these threads

Major Burns commits to LSU per Shea
4-star Major Burns has just decommitted from A&M

Jardin Gilbert has committed to LSU
Texas A&M S Jardin Gilbert to the portal

This from a senior, three year(?) starter is just awful.

Our lack of quality in the secondary (scouting, hs recruits, transfer portal, losses, gains, etc.) is all time bad under Kelly. Hopefully it starts improving significantly next season. I don’t think it can get any worse honestly. Man those are some disgusting grades

The O-line (including the 2 so called studs) sucked as well.

And Major Burns only improved toward the end of the season because they moved him closer to the LOS with more QB rushing responsibility on long down and distance situations where he did play better.

Not keeping Ramon on staff from the get go was one of Kelly's biggest mistakes.

We could have kept Corey, elevated Baker from LB to DC and kept McMahon on ST.

Do that and 2023 is likely another NC or at least, we make a run.

Kind of crazy how highly rated Nuss is when he only had 61% completion against SEC opponents with only 13 TDs and 8 INTs. Hell, Arkansas dropped 3 easy INTs that game as well.

His 72% against non SEC opponents with 16 TDs with 4 Ints really carried his average.

Again, it’s funny how yall use pff to fit certain agendas

When its a transfer coming in like the cb from Florida who grades out terribly, all I hear is pff doesn’t tell the whole story lol

Surprise Surprise.

Neither are LSU/SEC caliber OL's and neither is their Coach that recruited them.

UGA knew what they were doing when they processed this guy. We just thought we were so smart when we got him. Not many good Db's have come thru the portal for LSU.
