You could show a picture of him to a random person on the street.. and they'd recognize him, but they wouldn't be able to name him.

I've always loved him. Favorite role was the dad in October Sky.

For some reason I always think of him and William Fichtner in the same breath.

Very solid

He never phones it in. Does great work in whatever role he takes .

Not a leading man but a great supporting actor

Underrated. He can play leads fine. Lone Star and Breach are two of my favorites of his.

He blows away the competition in that movie

I've seen interviews with the real guy played by Ryan Phillippe, and he said that Cooper absolutely nailed the role, and he couldn't believe how well he recreated the creepiness of Bob Hanssen.

I thought he nailed his role in The Company Men as well.

I think his July Johnson in Lonesome Dove stands out, that's saying something since the whole movie is incredibly cast.

good description.

he's "oh yeah, THAT guy"
really good in every role, but honestly didn't know who you were talking about just by his name.

He isn't a leading guy, but he's a great supporting actor. October Sky, The Patriot, Lonesome Dove, The Boy's Life, Capote, and even The Town I thought he was good in.
