I thought conservative groups offered legal representation to those accused

Guess not. Talk about ineffective assistance of counsel.

My mom wanted me to go to DC with her for Jan 6th protests. I’m so glad I talked her out of it.

i'm not surprised they found themselves in complications

he is not the brightest or makes a habit of exercising good judgement

he'd fit in here

Apparently not those 43. What's the total number charged? 1,500?

But the current VP can openly call for donations of actual rioters, gleefully say there will be more riots, that there SHOULD be more riots, and nobody bats an eye.

Why would they ever sign with that loon. It would be an automatic hell no just based on her stupid blue hair alone

I would guess they were appointed her because they didn’t have several tens of thousands of dollars in cash to hire a lawyer.

My mom has gotten very enthusiastic about politics in the last 10 years. On one hand it’s given us something to discuss and keeps her invigorated but on the other she’s prone to hive mind. She really wants to be in the trenches but that’s not at all my jam.

Imagine you were going to trial for Jan 6 and that was what the public defender looked like when you walked into her office.

She declared them guilty and then represented them based on that.

I hope they sue and win massive

A blue haired Jewish woman, who despises her court appointed clients?

God help those people

It appears she intentionally screwed them over.

Aye yai yai! I've always wondered how did the defendants get themselves in such a horrible legal blackhole for so damn long.

^^^THIS explains A LOT! They were set up from the get-go.

She reminds me of the public defender that had a stutter in My Cousin Vinny.

She is a DC Public Defender who has represented 43 J6 defendants who couldn’t afford real representation.

... All of her J6 clients pled guilty. ... she replied “They’re damn lucky if they get me,” with a laugh.
If she said this, if her quotes are accurate, and if this is her attitude, I'm curious as to whether our resident attorneys think the DC Bar should intervene?

Assuming accuracy, to a nonlawyer this seems to be yet another example of a lawyer annihilating integrity in the profession with no concern of consequence for her conduct.

Yep. This is what the profession is rightfully loathed.
