Auto Break-ins and Theft

Just wondering how many of you have had your cars broken into or stolen recently. I just bought a new F250 5 weeks ago and have now had my window smashed twice in the last 1.5 weeks. I live in Dallas and supposedly this smash and grab tactic is becoming more common.
Both times I was in a good area of town and both times there were no valuables in the car. Have now spent $800 on new windows in the last 10 days (deductible is $500 so not covered). The first break in was at LA Fitness on Lover's and second was at Academy on Northwest Highway. The Academy parking lot was PACKED with people Christmas shopping so it's hard to believe they did this right out in the open in broad daylight. Hope these guys get what's coming to them

Forced to roll around in broken glass and then dipped in salt and lemon juice

Just go park, climb in the backseat, wait for them to smash it again and then BANG BANG

they see a 250 they assume there's a glock under the driver's seat
sorry man, sucks right around Christmas too

It’s time to start taking hands from thieves.

mine was broken into in houston a few months back at a hotel. it seems that they cut the horn wire and then jammed something in the keyhole to force the lock. luckily only real damage was the plastic chrome piece that sits over the keyhole which was cheap. got a pistol and my magic box.. so I guess all in all about $1200 of damage. I didnt even call the cops I already know that would be a waste of time.

Dallas PD is so understaffed that there isn’t really a good area left in Dallas in regards to safety.
Also, as a poster already said anything to make them think you might have a gun is enticing. Particularly if you have gun themed stickers on your car.

Maybe put a sticker on it that says, "No Guns Inside"

I had a pistol stolen out of a truck 7 years ago and learned my lesson. I have no stickers and nothing valuable in the vehicle whatsoever. This truck is so new it still has dealer plates

There's a crazy amount of property crime and cops act like they're' stretched too thin yet 100 of them can work overtime multiple times a week to control traffic after an event at American Airlines Center.
I'm also in a nice part of Dallas and had an old truck broken into twice and stolen once. The second break-in was also a theft attempt but the battery was also dead, however they fricked it up enough trying to steal it that insurance just totaled it and paid me for it.
Thieves know they can easily get into a parking garage at 3 am and go nuts if they care to.

Thieves go to the good areas for “valuables”. Bad areas aren’t good for thievery business.

Gyms are the most common place for break ins as most people leave wallets, purses, etc in their vehicles so they don’t have to carry them around the gym.

Man that sucks. shite freaks me out when traveling for hunting. I try and park close to the door if I have to run and take a piss on a trip. I’d be out 30k if they hit my truck and grabbed a couple of guns and hunting backpack.

Do you have a dark tint?
A new clean truck with a dark tint is like a magnet for trash
This is why my running errands vehicle is a dirty 10 year old f150 xlt with no tint and nothing in it
Will usually leave it unlocked in parking lot
