Either home field is huge advantage or 9-12 had no business in the playoff.

All 4 games were not competitive.

Something needs to change. I don't know what, but something. I expected some competitive football this weekend and was thoroughly disappointed.

Go back to any season of college football. Ever. There has never been a season where we needed a 12 team playoff, or even an 8 team playoff. In nearly every season, it’s always been 2-4 elite, dominant teams that can win a championship. That’s just the nature of the sport. The BCS and 4 team playoff were both good. College football should have kept it to one of those two formats. It never should have been more than 4 playoff teams, but money always wins.

9-12 had no business being there. The entire sportts world knows it but they all get paid a lot to go along with the charade.

Tennessee and OSU play 10 times in Columbus…I can see TN winning twice. Same with Clemson.
The other games…the loser loses all 10.
Credit to OSU last night. They executed and athletes made plays all night. Completely different team than the one that lost to Michigan.

There have been 0 seasons in college football history where 12 teams looked like national championship caliber.
The number of truly elite looking teams each year is usually between 1-3. Very rarely are there more than that, and then it's like 4-5.

You did? The only game I was slightly surprised by was the Tennessee Ohio State game.

Seeds 9-12 are purely there to create additional games/TV programming.

I kinda feel like the anti playoff expansion crowd has been yelling this would be what happens. Repeatedly.
I have a 4 figure bet with a lifelong friend that a 10,11, 12 seed won’t win a title in the next decade.
Feel pretty good about it now.

I had a feeling the Buckeyes would thoroughly beat Tennessee. I thought Clemson would have put up a better fight. It was the best game so far but Texas was never in doubt of losing that game even when Clemson pulled within a TD.

Maybe they need to drop the first round byes. And give the conference champions an extra week to prepare and automatic home field for their troubles.
That would get rid of 9-12

PSU and OSU were simply better teams. But make no mistake, the weather played a factor. Yes, I know both PSU and OSU have guys from warmer climates too, but playing in sub-freezing temperatures (something college players rarely do) is a BIG change. You move slower. Every hit hurts more. If things go bad you lose your will to fight quicker.

And they might go to 14 in 2026.
Maybe they need a lower seed play-in.

Unfortunately, the only way they’re dropping first round byes is when they eventually expand to 16 teams.

Home field advantage is a huge factor. This year’s system sucks - everyone agrees to that. The changes need to come from others than the talking heads and ABC / ESPN.
Somehow, we have to find a way to reverse the negative impacts of the monetization of college athletics.

Were you disappointed when LSU tore through the field in 2019? OU wasn't close to competitive. Parity doesn't exist in college football like the NFL because college football doesn't have a draft. Never has, never will. This is what we have got and I am glad we have a playoff to watch. It is not about your entertainment. It is about finding the best team out there. The other 11 can pound sand. In fact the other 130 can pound sand.
I don't care if #12 or #13 got cheated out of a game, I just care if #1 was in the field and in the end wins. I don't think that #1 was really somewhere out there in the 14 to 15 seed.

I think it's both.
