Pike co ms.

Hunted all thanksgiving. Seeing 15-20 doe a hunt with a few spike. Saw a couple shooters on 3 diff days. But they were just crossing down the pipeline about 400ish yards. Same times each day. Around 7 30am and 5pm. Likely going to and from bed. My mature buck pics are at night with the exeption of one or 2. Bucks still running together. Had my firsy scrape this past weekend.

Where i hunt i can go back through my pics from the last 7/8 yrs and every single buck ive killed has been betweem dec 23-jan7th. Rut is usually kicking off good then and they get stupid

very nice.

Neighboring clubs around me run dogs and now the bigger deer have either moved on or hide in the thickest stuff ever and dont come out until dark

Acorns, acorns, acorns, acorns! White oaks still dropping where I hunt.

Young’s bucks still together. Give it another week or so and it’ll get right.

Pike/Walthall county.
The last 5 hunts since the Sunday after thanksgiving I have seen some good numbers with a few bucks and yesterday between morning and evening sit saw 17. I run my cameras in video mode and had a video from 2 nights ago with a small buck chasing some does up and down the powerline.

Typical late November, early December Lull here in Madison County, very little buck movement. Did shoot 2 does with the bow Friday and Saturday morning.

It’s been slow in Amite county far. Our best hunt has been this past Saturday evening. We saw several deer moving between 430 and dark.
My son saw one deer at dark yesterday.

Agree with pdubya. We're south of him and have been seeing some scrapes but not a ton of movement. Just catching going east to west or vice versa from bedding areas. December is usually slow and then after Christmas to mid January it is really active.

Most movement happening in the evenings in the MS Delta. The larger bucks are definitely chasing. As far as here in West Tennessee I saw a very wide 7 or 8 point eating grass with his girlfriend less than 10 yards off Houston Levee Rd on Sunday in Collierville. This was @ 3pm in broad daylight. They only do that when they're thinking with their pecker. Full moon this weekend and the rut will be wide open. I am expecting some big bucks to get shot over the course of the next week. Good luck to everyone.

I have a newly logged area from two years ago that has grown into “exceptional habitat” according to MSWF site visit.

Unfortunately I’m terrified to hunt it due to the low visibility and immense amount of bedding. I hunted it the first hunt of the season and bumped deer after deer on the way in and out.

Warm weather and lots of acorns = few daytime sightings in my experience.

One good bit of news is that with all this rain any white oak acorn that doesn't get eaten will be rotten by end of the year.

N LA, Thursday PM to Sunday AM. Saw a good bit of does and a spike and 2 six points. The six points and spike were moving fast, no time to even get a scope on them. Nothing was going to the feeder except the does and the bucks weren't even chasing that I saw, just random crossings.

Don’t get me wrong I love cameras and we have anywhere from 6-8 cellular cams running year around on our lease.
I don’t know how many times over the years that I have hunted and seen deer and saw multiple deer and cams didn’t show anything. Just Saturday I watched a lil 3pt work a scrape on the edge of a plot that had a camera and he never got close enough to the feeder to get a picture.
I saw 4 sep deer this morning and one was a 160 pound 5pt that was cruising and he never even thought about going where a camera was. We had zero pics today during daylight and I saw 4 sep deer at different times moving from 7am till 9am.
