On phone calls in movies and TV shows, how come no one says “bye” when the call is done?

Everyone just says their peace and then just hangs up….why?

Seems like I saw the reasoning behind this (at least for TV shows) a while back. It’s the same reason that everyone is at their door within 2 seconds of knocking. Screen time is valuable and the audience doesn’t care.

Eh. That one doesn’t bother me as much as shite tons of people in movies still using flip phones.

My MIL does this. I could still be talking and she’d have already hung up 20 seconds before I realize it. Drives me nuts.

Well she’s a bitch and also doesn’t respect you.

Sounds like holidays are fun

That’s funny I told my wife the same thing during Landman Sunday.

It’s always bothered me. Billy Bob just says something and hangs up on his boss John Hamm

I need to try that next time my boss calls me

Same with Computers.

Recently rewatched The Net with Sandra Bullock Idk why....nostalgia?

Computers in movies always operated 20 years ahead of their time.....audiences weren't waiting 20 minutes for a character to download a nudie pic.

I’ve noticed that for years as well. It annoys me as well.

It is called shoe leather.

Movies and TV shows cut out a lot of mundane stuff that would make the final cut too long and do nothing to advance the plot. It is like when people are driving somewhere in a movie unless the time is used for advancing the plot the person is usually just shown leaving and then cuts to them walking into the place they are headed.

It always bothered me but the the YT algo somehow realized my pain and provided me with a film editor who did a video on shoe leather. I now grin when it happens on screen because I am part of the IYKYK crowd.

Another one is when they drive somewhere and park they always park right in front of the place in the most perfect spot. It’s there just waiting for them

Or when something happens between two people at a restaurant or someplace and they wait to talk about it until they get in the door of their home. We are left to assume the entire drive home was done in silence

I had a surge of nostalgia recently and went back and watched a bunch of old Rockford Files episodes. I was shocked at how much time was spent with him just driving through LA. Long enough segments to where I started to suspect they needed filler footage. It was wild.

Go watch some of the season one episodes.

I’d love to know what they were thinking back then.

Yeah, and why don't they ever show anybody going to the bathroom? We all know they have to do it at some point. Amirite?

Why can’t they put liquid in a cup. Every cup is empty and you can tell by the physics of the movement.

Here's my biggest pet peeve. when a scene calls for a car and they're driving around in the rain or on a dusty road and the car is always pristine and clean, no dirt on the windows.

It does always bug me how stupidly fake it looks when they act like they are drinking something.

I don't say bye often in life on the phone. It's commonly understood when the conversation has come to an end.
