Should have traded him last year. He’ll either walk for nothing, we’ll take some weak sign and trade like we did with Lonzo.

I've said this a few times, but it is a failure on Griffin's part not to be able to trade Ingram. Part of his job is to be convincing and sway opinions, and if he can't sell just one out of 29 other GM's on trading for a 6'9 wing that's in his prime that can generate you 34+ points a night through scoring and assisting than he's failed at his job as a GM.

He needs to be traded now, especially with him intentionally sitting out. Find a spot, take the loss and move on. I would prefer somewhere in the East (both him and Zion). But wherever gives the best value..

Reports are coming out that he had multiple deals in the offseason he was willing to take, Ingram killed the deals because he told the other team he wouldn’t sign an extension with them.

it’s the only leverage he has…it is the teams fault for letting him get to the last year of his contract. Undoubtedly though he also knew that the contract he’d be signing with a new team wasn’t going to be a max.

Ultimately it probably won’t hurt him financially since the deals he would have turned down won’t be different from the deal he can get now and he can choose his destination. I honestly don’t blame him

this is yet another demonstration of piss poor asset management

Ingram had no incentive to take an extension a year early as his max would have been 25%, whereas waiting until this offseason for an extension his max money is 30% of the cap. So even if he were willing to take a deal for 28% of the cap, he couldn’t have done it until this offseason.

Combine that with this new CBA that none of the GM’s fully knew and understood how it would effect deals like this, and you have the situation we are currently in.

Lebron didn’t personally send Dejounte packing from LA to NO.

When Klutch isn’t serving LeBron’s interests, they are executing a “damn the consequences, fake it till you make it” strategy where they act like they have all the leverage even when they don’t.

I do think as a UFA this summer BI would have enough leverage to get what he wants, which means we probably are looking at a Lonzo situation all over again. Hopefully that bad process leads to ping pong balls.

Lonzo was an RFA, IIRC.

BI is a full free agent so us getting anything as part of a sign a trade is likely better than nothing.

We are probably best off finding a landing spot now for pieces which might be moved again to either cut salary or get assets.

This. Also, Griffin made no effort to sign that center out of brooklyn I think, maybe knicks. Athletic, can defend and score. Signed for like 11-12M. Should be on our roster today.
