Take a look at the schedule.

I’m seeing 7-10 or 8-9.

Mediocrity and a 13th-19th 1st round draft pick continues.

It's like I'm reliving my childhood all over again. We're good, we suck, there's hope for the playoffs, we fall just short, middle first draft pick, rinse, repeat.

Don’t worry we just got two wins off of bad teams. Still on track for 6-11 and #10 pick.

They better draft the best damn WR available.

Sort of the point of OP. Saints are currently 4-7 with 3 very winnable games
LAR: 5-5 but getting healthy. Should be close in the 4th, expect a loss but could be a coin flip
@NYG: 2-8 and just changed QBs. Should resemble Clev game
Wash: 7-4, expected loss
@GB: 7-3, expected loss
LV: 2-8, Should be a win just haven't watched to see if close or multi-score
@TB: 4-6, coin-flip. They have a lot of very winnable games coming up. If they right the ship, should be a loss for the Saints. If not, they could pack it in; whereas, Rizzi's is fighting for a HC job

Say they beat LAR & TB, now they are looking at 7-8 wins. Then there is always that chance where they pull out 1 they shouldn't, I can see where 8-9 or 9-8 is a realistic possibility. Will definitely be a product of a weak schedule, and not a reflection of "how good" this team is.

I don't get angry at players on my team who never quit and try to win. Kinda what the average fan wants in their players. Only thing that would piss me off is keeping the guy in charge of the cap.

A number of posters predicted 8-9 and DA being retained.

DA is gone. There is silver lining. I am with you and not mad.

Won't be angry at all honestly.

I'll be pretty excited going into an offseason were the Saints are finally moving on from DA, likely getting out from under some aging vets, new young talent is improving.

I'll say it again, the Saints need to re-evaluate their whole scouting department and identify the problem that gives them players like

Isaiah Foskey(2nd Rd)
Trevor Penning(1st Rd)
Payton Turner(1st Rd)
Cesar Ruiz (1st Rd)
Marcus Davenport(1st Rd.)
Sheldon Rankins(1st Rd.)
*Andres Peat(1st Rd)
*Stephone Anthony(1st Rd)
*Hau'oli Kikaha(2nd Rd)
Stanley Jean-Baptiste(2nd Rd)

* = These guys are all from the same draft class. How do you miss that bad with your first 3 picks.

This is without even considering the "Mickey" trades that leave you scratching your head.

I thought firing Allen was a mistake. Should have waiting after the season to ensure we didn’t win too much.

Taking a quick look at how things finished last season and extrapolating that to this season.

If the Saints finished 7-10 or 8-9 thay would likely be picking somewhere between 8th and 13th. I could live with that.

For the record, I say they come out of the bye and go 4-2 giving them a 8-9 record (And Rizzi a 6-2 record as HC) and they get the 12th overall pick in 2025.

With the 12th pick they select Tet McMillan WR - Arizona

I would not be angry. In fact if we go on a win streak I wouldn't mind taking Rizzi as a head coach instead of going through all that BS nonsense of interviewing and overpaying for the next hot assistant coach. Dealing with Rooney Rule.

I would feel Rizzi has earned it. Let's see what he can do with a full off season ?

Yes the team consistency and taking off the interim coach title hasn't worked for the likes of Allen or the current Raiders coach

However I would give him maybe a 3 year contract and try to reduce the salary cap . Unload some old veterans.

I'm happy that the players are showing pride and continuing to fight and play hard even with a season that's more or less over with. That said, a record that's too good gives Loomis and the rest of the front office an excuse to continue with business as usual this offseason and that's just not where we are as a franchise. We need to get the cap in order, overhaul our scouting department and work on getting younger/deeper and not being so overly reliant on players who are on the back end of their careers. Winning 7-9 games just gives the front office the delusion to once again say "Look how close we are!' and continue doing what they've been doing. That's not going to do us any good in the short term or the long.

(For the record I've never rooted for the Saints to lose and I'm not doing so now. But eventually leadership needs to face facts about where we are and the changes that need to be made and apparently perpetual mediocrity wasn't enough, only outright losing a lot of games seems to have been enough to snap people awake.)

This isn't the NBA. There's talent all over the first round. I'm indifferent tbh.

Im with the last poster, it's not the NBA... You can have a damn good draft overall, no matter where you pick in the 1st round... We used to do it so we know it can be done...

Say we go 8-9. That means Rizzi went 6-2 the rest of the way. Yes its mediocrity this season but if Rizzi has this team playing good insprired football- something I never saw under DA. I think thats something to build on. Finding a coach is half the battle- going 6-2 as an interim coach taking over after the team was on a 7 game losing streak is impressive.

Honestly don’t care so much about the pick in this draft as I do about not trading up with it and minimizing the amount of money we push forward. If it’s not a top 2-3 pick that you can trade away for a ransom to the team that falls in love with the QBs I don’t know if it matters THAT much.

8-9 or 4-13 it doesn’t really matter…we’re not a couple of players away and need to build this roster and get younger.

I’m glad Dennis Allen was fired. He was a bad football coach.
