Mrs. Zwin scoffed when I bought an 82” for the new townhome 2 years ago. Said it was ridiculous.
When I pointed this sale out to her, she asked if we should get it.

I remember paying $1000 for a 40” in 2008

I'm eyeing a 75" Vizio at SAMS for $600. I think I'll wait for black Friday though.
I don't know about the inflation part, but these things have really gotten affordable because of the first two things you mentioned.
I don't even need a 75", my 65" works just fine. I just want to upgrade the living room and replace on old 42" in my bedroom with the 65".

All depends on the refresh rate. My Dad bought a 70 inch for $1,000 many years back which was a steal. The refresh was like 60.
In this day and age you want at least 120 refesh. Thats usually why those 60 plus TV's are so cheap, because they have a crappy refresh rate.

I had a 55 inch in my living room. Moved that to the bedroom and was going to buy a 65 to replace it. My wife says, "Why not just get the 75 inch?"
Uh, didn't have to say that twice.
Now, two years later she says we need to downsize it to a 65. I had to explain to her that's like asking a woman with store bought DD's having them redone in 5 years and deciding to go with C's.
That's a no go.
