It was started under the idea that it would save energy. Many studies prove it has zero savings on energy. Why does it remain? Well, golfers who like to play a round after work support it. But that's a tiny group of people. I think it may just be due to the strength of status quo. Changing something must have a compelling reason. Otherwise people will just keep it the same.
I'm for getting rid of DST.

You sure about that?

Timezones are man made and drawn around borders that don't always fall into where true timezones would be if they were just scientifically drawn with straight longitude lines.

It seems like if the Northeast wants to stay on normal time and the Southeast doesn't, then would be easier to move the northern states over to the Central time zone. This would let them both have the kind of daylight that corresponds with the time of day that they want and it would get rid of the clocks moving back and forth.

We already have Northern Indiana and Arizona that don't follow daylights savings and fall under different timezones different times of the year.
