If he truly ends this war before he event takes office like he has been saying during his campaign, we are in for a beautiful ride for the next 4 years.
I'm not sure Z will take anything less than the return of all territory though and Putin isn't gonna give it up. Not sure what deal would save face on both sides.

Zelensky has no other choice but to suck it up and give up territory to the Russians. This is what you get for involving yourself with the US MIC but in the end Zelensky and pals are most likely laughing all the way to the bank.

He is going to tell him that he isn't getting any more funding or support. Z will have no defense and Putiin can win the war. Z's only chance at a non loss is to come to the table with Putin with Trump as the moderator. Draw some lines and call it a day.

This is a terrible precedent for either side to set. We want the US to be able to negotiate in good faith with whoever is in charge. Not potentially or will be in charge eventually.... Imagine a Democrat wins the next cycle, and starts calling world leaders saying wait till trump gets out and I'll find your war no problem. It's an issue.

I was thinking about this yesterday.
I'd make the offer to both to split the difference and call it a day. If Russia is 60 miles in at a certain point, back them up 30. Say another area is 100 miles in, back it up 50.
Redraw the boundary from there and sign a peace agreement.

In a vacuum perhaps you're right
We have a completely feeble and absent POTUS and an incapable VP who hasn't been involved in governance for multiple months. The country is leaderless and being run by bureaucrats who are all now lame ducks at high levels.
So, is the alternative to mostly just sit idly by while the war rages for 3 more months before any meaningful effort to talk about where we go from here can begin?
We have a completely feeble and absent POTUS and an incapable VP who hasn't been involved in governance for multiple months. The country is leaderless and being run by bureaucrats who are all now lame ducks at high levels.
So, is the alternative to mostly just sit idly by while the war rages for 3 more months before any meaningful effort to talk about where we go from here can begin?
