Flying out of BTR?

First time in my life ever flying from BTR. lol
With TSA and ticketing, now soon would I need to arrive to catch the flight on time.
At MSY, I’ve always arrived about 2 hours before. I don’t wanna arrive (too) early, but at the same time I don’t wanna get risky and get to the gate at the last minute.

You can show up 30 minutes before and have no problem

If you’re checking a bag, you have to get there no earlier than an hour. That’s not a BTR thing, required for all airports.
If you’re not, you can get there 10 minutes before boarding and be fine.

Exactly this, had to check a bag last time but have never had to wait more than 10 minutes to clear TSA.

This is wrong. It ranges for each airport between 40-60 minutes, and it is the airline's choice not the airport.
Delta
For BTR, you will take no longer than 5 minutes to check a bag, and 5 minutes to get through security. 60 Miutes before your flight is plenty.

No, it's not. At most airports, it's 45 minutes, but as others have pointed out, it varies by airport.
As for BTR, it's much easier than MSY. You might have to wait 30 seconds at TSA if there's someone in front of you. Walk in the building 30 minutes ahead of your flight if you have a boarding pass already and no bag to check, an hour ahead of your departure time if you need to do one of those.

I’d get there 1.5 hrs ahead but I like arriving fairly early. Unless it’s a holiday the lines are not too long generally. It’s very easy and convenient. Similar to Lafayette which I love using also.

what? There is no reason to ever get there that early unless you like sitting in an airport playing on your phone. I don't even leave my house 1.5 hours before takeoff time and i live about 25 minutes from BTR.
I fly out of BTR all the time. If my flight is at 7am I plan to be parked in the garage at 6:30, so I leave my house around 6am.. It takes less than 5 minutes to walk from my truck, through security and to the gate, and by the time I"m walking up Group 1 is boarding.

I have been parking when boarding started, and still made it on the plane with a few minutes to spare at BTR.
Security has never taken me more than 5 minutes. And I am a frequent flier. One hour before takeoff is plenty of time.

Man, I would do an hour early. I have flown out of BTR a hundred times. That said, the last several times we get there about 30 minutes early and everyone else had the same thought. Lines to check bags and lines at TSA. It has almost burned us.

My favorite airport in the world. That TSA is smooth sailing. More agents than passengers most of the time.

MLU is like this. JAN is a little closer to my house, but I prefer MLU when the schedule works.

As has been said, if you're checking a bag, aim for an hour before take off. If you're not, feel free to show up 10m before whatever your boarding time is, just to make yourself feel better. You'll be at your gate before boarding starts.

You do you. I’ve gotten jammed up a few times checking bags, checking passports, behind large groups of students etc…. I”m not missing a trip or chancing it to prove a point of how lazy I can be. WTF else are you doing before flying out? I’m usually checking a bag or two and with multiple family members doing the same. I’ve also been able to make better arrangements when checking in early and just asking. I prefer to be early for appointments/events and not running in the door at the last minute for everything I do.

Unless you’re going on an expedition to the Arctic, what the frick are you doing checking two bags per person?

Hey, as you said, to each his own, but I don't travel overseas to impress foreigners with my style.

We flew out of BTR last month. We were there 1.5 hours early and had plenty of time to wait.
