Biggest loser of the night? Newsom.

Yesterday's election showed the majority of the country won't vote for a far left candidate. If Democrats are foolish enough to pick him in 2028, they will lose again. They will need to pick someone who can at least appear to be middle of the road like Josh Shapiro to be competitive in 2028.

Yeah I've been saying this. I don't think Newsom will ever appeal to the rest of the country.

Hell, I think it took some shenanigans just to keep him in the governor's office.

He’ll have 4 years and a propaganda media to whitewash his image
They did it for Kamala in 2 months…

Nah, give Newsome some credit, he's cagey and ambitious. He'll recalibrate to appeal to a few rust belt states and is actually sitting pretty. Having some of the old guard and the heir apparent out of the way opens doors for him.

I'd rather run against Newsom than Sharpiro. But I also think Sharpiro is a bit overhyped. But would make PA tough.

Most likely will be a Vance / Shapiro shootout in 2028

Shapiro will be the go to. Newsome never had a chance.

Mickey, I wish more liberals were like you. While I often disagree with your positions you are always clear about what you believe in - and why. And you also don't have your head shoved so far up your arse that you can't see things realistically.
I know you catch a lot of shite but I'm glad you're here.

Newsome got fricked by fate like Desantis.
He never had the proper availability when the opportunity was present and his window looks closed.

Desantis fricked himself by being convinced to run this cycle against Trump.
Combine that with the restriction on candidates from the same state and he got blocked out.
Theoretically, Trump could have actually moved his residency back to NY this cycle thanks to the court cases there if he REALLY wanted to allow Desantis or Rubio as VP.

Watch Kelly, Whitmer and Shapiro for 2028. Whitmer is probably the most dangerous.

Not saying they will pick him in 2028, but he is definitely not dead in the water. CA passed a ballot measure or whatever last night that repealed the ridiculous shite like making theft below $950 not a felony. And the Soros-installed LA DA was ousted for a more law n order candidate as well.

It's very possible he will be able to throw his hat in while portraying CA as a centrist success story under his watch.

Agreed, but one of the lessons of this election is that the Democrats need to pare their progressivism if they want to have the best shot to win. Obama initially ran as a centrist and was a talented pol. Biden just flat out lied to us about his intentions but it was plausible to many given his history as a moderate Dem. With Harris, the country (in addition to questioning her credentials) there was no fooling anyone because she steadfastly refused to have a Sister Soulja moment of any kind. As the WSJ’s Peggy Norman noted, she wouldn’t even say “no boys on the girls teams.” Like Harris, Newsom is just too unadulterated a California progressive, and I am glad to see that that just doesn’t fly.

It's not just policy. It's not that he's stupid. His personality just reeks of a sleazy used car salesman. Or those TV lawyer commercials: 'Have a wreck? Call us. We'll make them pay.'

Pelosi being his aunt or something just adds to the NO for that guy

Hell, Governor Haircut had to survive a recall effort in his own Marxist state. He was never a threat nationally.
