Any of you guys ever try this? I hear it can help you lose a lot of weight and also reduce inflammation in your body. However it might not be good for your cholesterol numbers.
For anyone who has done it:
What are the pros?
What are the cons?

Been on it for months. Began as an elimination diet because of bloating and inflammation, and haven't looked back. I'm pretty lean, so I can't attest to weight lose, but I'm as cut as I've ever been.
Don't believe this. It's "bad' for the one cholesterol number...the one doctors can provide meds for.
I really don't see any cons to it. I was vegetarian for a long time because I thought meat = heart attacks. I think all those days of peanut butter on high fiber bread, and veggies caused inflammation.
Now, I feel like kid in a candy store - I eat tons of butter, salt, and fats...all things that I thought would kill me. I do eat berries here and there, and don't crucify myself if I have scoop of ice cream - but, I do follow it as my main diet.

Been doing it for over 2 years now. It’s a literal cheat code if you are over 40 and take weight training seriously. No cholesterol issues. It’s like any diet some people will respond better to it than others. You have to be willing to experiment with yourself and see what works best for you. Some people will throw raspberries, blueberries, blackberries in a few times a week but I don’t. I’d try several of the elimination diets and see which one works best for you and stick with it.

Only con is I can’t handle alcohol on carnivore. Get drunk super fast and stomach issues quickly.
Sorta an upside depending on your POV.

I do a modified carnivore diet called animal based. It is amazing. You gain muscle and lose fat at the same time. I'm not quitting. It's basically no processed food in my diet unless I have a cheat meal or cheat snack.

Since May

It leaned me up bigtime and really helped with some inflammatory arthritis

Its just fine for heart health

What are the pros?
-Eating lots of delicious steak
-removes a lot of decision fatigue associated with deciding what to eat every day
-sustained steady energy, no highs or lows
-almost always feel full
-fat loss is incredibly easy
-I think my skin looks better
quote:
What are the cons?
-preparing food
-the adaptation period. youll feel bad and have constant runs
-eating out with friends/family is almost impossible
-very hard when you are traveling/on vacation
Neutral:
-costs. youll spend a lot on steaks unless you want to do lots of eggs and ground beef. It is about even when I eliminate all eating out with normal diet. I do ribeyes every day
-gym. there is ultimately not much difference for me energy wise once I got adapted
There is nothing magical about the meat itself other than it provides everything your body needs. The magic is the elimination of foods that causes inflammation. It is ultimately an elimination diet

Same. I think my problem is the animal I chose is raccoon. I really need to pick one that eats a little healthier.

Mainly do carnivore except I drink whole milk and eat grapes, strawberries, bananas, and sweet peppers here and there. Never felt better.
I miss Italian food though.

I was getting about 50 grams of fiber eating vegan/ vegetarian. I probably have better bowel movements being on carnivore...or at least not nearly that much fiber. And I'm not constantly farting.
Chia seeds are most of my fiber now. Good protein source as well.

I would suggest to give dr Ken berry and dr Eric westman a listen

Currently reading this book. The premise is that everyone should be getting 30g or more of dietary fiber per day PLUS eating as many fermented foods as possible.

I was really big into fiber. Like, I thought the more I ate and had great bowel movements, the healthier I was.
Breakfast: 17 grams from cereal
Lunch: 11 grams from (2) Apples & (1) Banana + Peanut Butter
or
32 grams from high fiber bread (Two PP&J's)
Dinner: A plate full of Broccoli or Brussel Sprouts (Probably around 12-15 grams?)
I followed a lot of what Will Bulsiewicz is about, which is fiber, fiber, fiber. He does mention a lot about fermented foods because they're high in polyphenols.
Honestly, I felt great eating a mostly vegan diet, but my body turned on me a little over a year ago. I was having severe bloating, and it seemed like I blew up after everything I ate. The doctors found nothing wrong in a colonoscopy, and I began an elimination diet. I landed on Paleo for a while, and eventually just went to mostly all meat.
I think my issue was eating so much ultra-processed fiber over many, many years that it damaged my gut (maybe...maybe not). I feel the best way for me to avoid bloating and inflammation is just eat meat.

This is not accurate. People do responded differently, sure, but main thing is focusing on what type of meat. And by that I mean cleaner and usually lesser ingredients, stick with organic if possible. We personally know of several people from 30 to 60+ years old that started doing carnivore diet and were actually able to get off of their BP and cholesterol meds.

Bump. Started last week. Im 6’2 250 and want to lose as close to 50lbs as possible. My best friend started about 6mo ago and lost 30lbs in the first month. It’s worth noting that he incorporated it with intermittent fasting
It’s so contradictory to what we’ve been taught since childhood that it feels bizarre. Not that im complaining about keeping my freezer slam full of ribeyes. My buddy is giving me tips and says eggs, meat, and cheeses. Which isn’t a terrible selection but the reflex of putting everything on breads, tortillas, and crackers is tough to crack
I know it’s incredibly straightforward, but still feels cumbersome as hell trying to get a routine going. Eliminating alcohol as well feels almost looney tunes. Im a lifelong beer drinker and the older I’ve gotten the 2-3 times a week have gone from a relaxing habit to getting ripped every time I drink. My dad went down a similar path. I had only seen him intoxicated once or twice in my life as a kid/adolescent but after 60 he was putting away a handle of bourbon every 3 days or so. So it concerns me that I could be on a similar path
Anyway, removing the alcohol alone should be good for a good 10lbs or so in the first 4-6 weeks I figure

It really is difficult to kick the carbs out. I always want to eat crackers, bread, rice, etc.
