Yeah I’ve seen enough with BI

KEEP HIM A PELICAN FOR THE REST OF HIS CAREER
Posted on 10/26/24 at 11:00 am to Dragonbutt
It’s been two games. Also how much of his changed shot profile is due to him wanting a new contract, and how can we guarantee he won’t go back to the same old BI once he gets paid?
All I’m seeing with his play is increased trade value, this keeps up someone is dropping a warchest for him

Right. I’m excited too. If he keeps playing like this until deadline sure. But I’d still look to move him and make the decision.

The gap for BI has always been availability. If he can be more available he’ll cash in a max deal for a number of teams. Heck, there are teams that want him right now. He has said he wants to be here, that goes a long way for me.

If we're at the trade deadline and are in contention for a top 4 seed, you can't trade BI.

Trey will start. And I just don't see the logic in not starting the best perimeter defender in the NBA to play him off the bench when the other team's best player likely is on the bench as well. Just doesn't really make sense to go out of our way to not sync Herbs minutes with the opponents best player.

Depends on the return. You don’t make a trade just to make a trade, but if you get a few good players and some picks that can help make you deeper, you take it

We need to see how everything works when/if this team is fully healthy. When you're down Murray and Trey keeping BI seems like a good thing. At full strength "how well do all of the pieces fit?" is the question we need to answer.

The problem is some people on this board wanted to give him up for basically nothing.

The other options are paying him 40+ million a year or losing him for literally nothing and letting him walk. As ATL said, we have to see what this team looks like at full strength. 2 games against non playoff teams isn’t enough data to decide anything.

You could actually start Trey or Herb based on match up and if they are already both paid and playing around 30min on a contender level team then I don't think they really give a frick.
Trading CJ for Claxton after December 15th would be my priority at the moment.
Murray's defense already makes Herb's overall starting roll a luxury and not a necessity. You replace CJ with Claxton and our defense is very good with a Herb on the bench. ( to the point that if all of our other players are playing well we may even hear Herb trade rumors).
Murray/ Jose
Trey/ Hawk
BI/ Herb/ JG
Zion/ Theis/ JRE
Claxton/ Missi/ Karlo
Herb is our starter because of defense. Adding Murray/ Claxton makes Herb to the bench that much easier. And it makes it easier to matchup based on lineups.

We just can't "afford" to keep BI on this team...and NOT just from a financial point of view. So far, we've beaten 2 teams who might well lose 60 games each...& battle the Nets & Wizards in the Cooper Flagg sweepstakes. We beat the Blazers at crunch time, by BI doing his patented 12-dribble isolation move...& taking a horrible shot...which happened to go in...this time. Not sure this is the future...that the Pelicans are hoping for. Bottom line...BI has got to go...one way or the other.
And btw: That "stink eye"...that Herb layed on Simons after that last second block...was "worth the price of admission" !!

No it was a glimpse of last years team with our best players actually grinding for the win (BI and Zion). We lose that game last year.
We also obviously didn't have Murray (our PG) which is literally the most important addition to this team. Anyone who wants to make judgments on this team winning games without Murray is ignorant. Not to mention we are also missing Trey. If we had another Hawk type player in that game then we win alot easier.
BI had a "bad game" and shot 4-9 3pt.
Zion had a "bad game" and still had 16/11/7/ 3blcks
We won a game we would have lost last year.
Y'all are miserable people.
You can see the improvements from BI and Zion that many fans here consider "make or breaks" or "impossible" while we played the game without Murray and won.
And y'all just want something to complain or bitch about.

If he keeps playing like this the value is high. You trade him at that point unless we are a legit top 4 team in the west.
Knowing griff he’ll keep him regardless. He struggles to comprehend the idea of trading when a players value is high

Actually, I think "we" just want the Pels to have a serious contending team, come playoff time and (jmo) I don't think we feel BI even comes close to "fitting" our current roster. Just a horrible "fit" for today's NBA.
I, for one, no longer bitch about Val's terrible fit with Zion...since he's gone...and rest assured, I'll no longer bitch about BI...once he's gone also.

I'm sick of fighting idiot fans moving goal posts for their shitty arguments or complaints.
BI, Dyson, etccc.
Arguments provided by common sense and stats and some of our loser fans just want to live in their miserable world of arguing and doubting.
(This isn't meant specifically for you Dink).
But you fit in the "hater" category aswell....
I wish some people would have the balls to just say "they are playing well, I'm just a hater and don't have confidence in them".
And then frick off while saving us from whatever pussified personal feelings you have about the situation.

"Hater" ?? Actually...I always liked Val...he gave pretty much all he had...he just sucked. I'd luv to still have Dyson on this team...I think he will eventually be a very solid NBA player. I don't "hate" BI...I have NO reason to hate the guy...I just "hate" his overall game...and his "fit" with this current Pels' team.

I think Griff was only going to trade him for fair value. Once that didn't materialize, his plan shifted to seeing how the team looks for the first half of the yr.
I honestly don't think extending him is out the window.

When you spent all off-season saying that trading BI would be addition by subtraction, it's hard to acknowledge that the team would be 0-2 without him.

I guess the Twolves should trade Anthony Edwards too.
What is Philly doing keeping Maxey? Go get a kings return for him right?
We are trying to win a championship my man. You don’t do that by trading away your best players.
