The Growing Movement to release the Parricidal Menendez Brothers…

Because of increased public perception that they were horrifically sexually abused. And the belief that the DA is sympathetic to them and his announcement that he is currently “ reviewing “ the case.
Discuss respectfully and without bloodshed among yourselves.

America has grown too soft

Nah they murdered their parents. The sympathy they received was not getting the death penalty.

If those two psychos can con their way out of prison using woke ideology it might be the final straw for common sensed rational people. That's all I got.

They blew their parents heads off with a shotgun, let them rot.

If Dad was sexually abusive, he had it coming.

It would set a standard that people won’t get life in jail for murder if they were released.
Both kids were 18+, were not held against their will, went into their parents house, were not threatened at time of murder thus no self defense, and murdered their dad. Oh and then murdered their mom who never physically abused them.(she was a POS, sure), but their reasoning was because “she wouldnt have been able live without our dad and we were giving her peace.”
Feel bad that the brothers went that trauma with a crazy person as kids and thus became crazy themselves, but premeditated murdered their parents in cold blood. We cant make that acceptable reason to kill someone. No one stopped them from getting out of dodge, but they didnt have any money and didnt want to leave.

It’s a bit of a contradictory curiosity to me. In the one hand our board( me included) pronounces an immediate death sentence on child diddlers and on the other we condemn the victim ( allegedly) who takes it into his own hand. My guess is because they murdered their mother as well. Were it only the Dad , they’d probably be out long ago.

I think it's pretty wild how a dramatization (aka fictional) on Netflix has sparked a renewed interest in the case. I think it's also creating some of the sympathetic feelings towards the two as well. Most people I've seen giving their opinion on the case have either mentioned that show. A couple of them even saying how they weren't even alive at the ti.e and found out about the case from Netflix.

What's the evidence of this other than the statements provided by the brothers AFTER the double murder?

Agreed.
They fricked up when they didn't stop with only him. Killing the mom too curbs any other sympathies I may have held for them.

It would be interesting to see how the numbers break down for the older people who lived the case and all the younger peeps who are hearing about it for the first time.I can remember rolling my eyes and wondering why it wasn’t the fastest verdict in history. It is true that almost everyone discounted the sexual abuse back in 1990 and that it is almost automatically accepted now. That detail is a legitimate positive cultural change, the recognition that sexual abuse of children is far more common than we thought.
I believe they are released this time next year. It’s in LA. The constituency will be happy so it’s almost a political certainty, imho.

I didn't follow the case when it first occurred and have always wondered this. Did the "he was a strict, demanding and unloving father" morph into "he sexually abused us!" when the first line of reasoning was unsuccessful?

Family testimony as far as I know. The cousin or aunt that says Eric told her when he was 8 or 9. But you know how this works, we are a mushy culture. Proof isn’t really required, just a prevailing perception.
FTR, I think they were. It’s still not a legitimate reason to shotgun your mother. So no soup for me.

Life in prison was appropriate. No death penalty due to the abuse. Blowing your parents heads off means you lose freedom privileges.
