Negative comments about Kelly are absolutely ridiculous!

What did you guys expect when Kelly took over? He didn't inherit a loaded roster like DeBoer did at Alabama, but he took over a program that was an absolute shite show and a complete embarrassment in the college football world.
What has Kelly accomplished in two years?
- averaging 10 wins a season, despite having one of the worst defenses in the country!
- beaten Alabama
- recruited Daniels to LSU and he won the Heisman
- 3 first round draft picks last year - all are doing well in the league
- convinced Nuss to return
- landed the 6th best recruiting class in the country last year
- on pace to possibly sign the No. 1 recruiting class in the country in 2025 and maybe the highest ranked recruiting class in program history
- has put together one of the best OLs in the country and both tackles are project to go in the first round and Campbell may be the No. 1 overall pick in the draft
What's not to like? Is Kelly perfect? No, but he's done one hell of a job, considering what he inherited.
We should be thankful we got a coach like Kelly, because a lot of fans wanted Napier and Jimbo and we all know how that turned out!

Falls on the head coach regardless of the level of football being played.
Three consecutive season opening losses is worrisome.
Coming out flat and losing to arguably the worst Texas A&M team in 2022 was inexcusable, especially after beating Alabama a few weeks earlier.

That A&M team had much better talent than their record. Achane was and still is a beast and went off that night. A&M put out the blueprint for neutralizing Perk that night, as well. Still, that game was an embarrassing performance.

To be fair debour didn't inherit a loaded roster, they lost alot of players to the portal when saban left, and lost recruits

quote:Kelly's one major fault was that his initial defensive coaching hires were bad. While that is a rather serious mistake, he cleaned House (pun intended), and brought in a new staff that seems remarkably strong. We are still paying for that mistake as our defensive personnel is not at the level we want, but the defense (both coaching and recruiting) seems to be trending the right way.
What's not to like?
As I see it, people can be salty about the defense (and ST) those first couple years. They can even complain about our defense now. However, after hiring this defensive staff, getting rid of Kelly would just be silly. If we give these coaches a couple years to recruit and build a defense and our offense continues to remain productive, we should have the team we want. If we get rid of Kelly and start over, we are back to square one and will have question marks everywhere.
We still don't know if Kelly is going to be able to win big games or if we can actually be ready to play for the first game of a year, but I don't think we'll know that until have some continuity in both the roster and the coaches. So, let's steal all the wins we can get now, and look forward to the dominant team that seems to be on the horizon.
And yes, asking LSU fans to be patient is futile, but here we are.

He's without question pushed the program into a better place than before he got here.
But everyone expected an elite program with his acquisition. And lets be real with ourselves. We haven't been elite at any point, up to this point.

Are you serious?!?!?!
After losing around 20 5 star and top 250 4 stars, Alabama was left with the... Checks notes... #1 Most talented roster in college football. Yes, after losing all that talent, Deboar STILL HAS THE #1 MOST TALENTED ROSTER IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL....

Most on here that bitch about BK did not like him in the first place and are just looking for the "I told you so" moments and never will concede. The same thing happened with CEO until he won the Natty. Then he made everyones predicitons come true after that.
There are a few on here with rational criticisms and accolades.
When BK was hired I hated ND and hence him with it. But when that SOB stepped off that plane he was now my SOB...

Bitching about BK not going to the playoffs in year 3 is ridiculous. Even though his team is still in the hunt which shows you who the whiny bitches really are. The one thing he can reasonably be criticized for is the House hiring. But go back and look at all the positive comments on here when he was hired. So I agree he stepped up and made the defensive changes. Will take another year of recruiting and developing the players we have but Baker & Co have them trending up and look at the up coming classes combined with the 2024 class and only an idiot would want him gone. That is one of the youngest defenses in the SEC and will be even stronger next year and the year after.

A whole hell of a lot given the financial commitment made to him and the numerous resources and advantages he's been given. He's already gotten almost an entire staff do-over in 2 years. Fired the whole defensive staff and ST coordinator. OC moved on.
I expected him to be extremely organized and on-point in his role as CEO and that hasn't been the case. He's struggled mightily to motivate the players and with in-game decisions.

Sorry, T. The highest paid state employee will always be subject to criticism.

You make a lot of good points and this is one of them:
Like many on here, I like the House hire and after the first year the defense looked very encouraging. I think the three biggest problems w/ House were:
1. After looking at tape of his first year LSU defense, SEC coaches had him figured out and he was unable to adjust.
2. House's hires for defensive position coaches varied from weak to very bad. Of course, losing a weak DL coach hire made things even worse.
3. This ties in to #2. The Defensive recruits brought in by House/defensive coaches were not up to SEC standards.
