This is, unfortunately, a MUST WIN for the Tigers.

Someone’s playoff dreams will die in Tiger Stadium on Saturday night. Hoping it’s the opponent’s.

We can’t beat Ole Miss at home, we probably don’t deserve to be in the playoffs anyway.

We have to win out if we lose Saturday which isn’t happening. That USC game hurt so bad.

Not necessarily for LSU, but it means we’d have to be perfect the rest of the season.

A two loss LSU makes a strong playoff push. Even a 3 loss (if that third loss isn’t a blow out in the SECCG) could make a case.

For Ole Miss this would be their second SEC losses making it unlikely they get to Atlanta…again.

It's not a MUST win, I'd say.

Winning out after Saturday gives you wins at Arkansas, at A&M, and vs Bama. You should make it to the SECCG, and if you do that, you'll probably win. In which case, you'll be fine.

In all seriousness: which win would be better for the Tiger resume, do you think? Ole Miss at home or Texas A&M at Kyle?

What's your prediction? 0-3? 1-2? 2-1?

The bottom line is if LSU can't beat Ole Miss at home, then they probably aren't good enough to win a playoff game.

This game is as much of a must win as every other game left on the schedule.

The USC game left not much room for error and LSU can only afford 1 more loss.

Gauntlet......

OM @ TS
LSU @ ARK
LSU @ TAM
BAMA @ TS (Off a week)

We could easily go 0-4 with this defense. LSU will be lucky to get a split 2-2. Looks more like 1-3 to me. Then the pressure hits CBK because he Fd up again not building a defense. CBK has a lot of pressure and he knows it. The spiral down the hole begins this week. LSU 5-4 after Bama.

If we win we’ll squarely be back in the CFP bracket projections as of now but either way if we go 3-1 between the Ole Miss and Bama game we’ll be a top 12 team IMO.

9 OM
@Arkansas
@15 A&M
7 Bama

I think we’ll be ranked around #10 if we’re 7-2 with Florida Vandy and OU left

1-3 in that stretch. 2-2 at best.

Couldn't you classify any game a MUST WIN?

And it hasn't been a "must win" in any of those posts either.

Looking at 10 years of CFP rankings it is unlikely a 2-loss SEC team gets left out of a 12 team CFP. Possible, but not likely. Regardless of which team loses on Saturday they will only have 2 losses. Now, a second loss means the loser's margin for error is almost assuredly gone and they have to win out (it's possible a 3 loss SEC team gets in, but not likely). But it is not a "must win". For it to be a "must win", there has to be a certain and specific consequence for losing. LSU (and Ole Miss) can still reach the CFP even with a loss Saturday. The only way it is a "must win" is in terms of LSU hoping to get 11 regular season win.

Stop the ridiculous hyperbole. For as long as I've been on the board ahead of at least 90% of SEC games someone (several someones) has started a topic stating that week's game was a "must win". Sometimes it was. Most of the time it wasn't. This is the latter. Hell, I'm pretty confident if you did a search of all topics leading up to the USC game you find at least one calling that game a "must win"...the first freaking game of the season!

This team has no business thinking about the playoff. They need to take it one game at a time, and if by some miracle they make it, so be it. A 9-3 season for this team would be an achievement.

Agreed. I don't think this is a playoff team unfortunately. I think going 2-2 over the next 4 games would be decent for this team.
