Hearing movements and shipping are already slowing down ahead of Tues strike. Both sides are very apart in their demands and not currently negotiating. Are things about to get dicey?

Gina better start picking up some extra shifts at the diner. Tommy's luck is about to shift again.

It's not just the gulf coast. It's also the east coast.

Mass food and product shortages incoming.

It’s an interesting issue. Harris campaign wants to support union and pro labor…but they also don’t want to have prices and supply chain be an issue ahead of election.

Maybe.... maybe limited short term issues.
Trucking companies exist and stuff will be brought in from other ports. Not nearly what the chicken littles who want clicks are saying

Ridiculous. As of 2016 when i did some research, longshoreman in LA were making something like $250k/year for straigh time, which also meant your first hour was paid to set up or climb the crane as was your last hour.
I know LA is expensive but cmon man....

Top pay is 39 dollars an hour straight time. So a longshoreman would have to work over 6,000 straight time hours to achieve that. Also, in 2016, top pay was like 34. So add another thousand hours.

Is their pay scaled national? Because that is dogshit pay in California.

No. West coast got a new deal two years ago. Think they are at 55 top pay.

Dockworker here. Unfortunately it is looking like it will 100% come to a strike. Anything shipped via cargo container is about to run into a gridlock.
Ports from Texas all the way to Maine will strike on Tuesday.
The west coast union (iwlu) has already told our union they won’t accept ships that are being diverted from our ports on strike.

Dude, if you’re at work, you’re at work and should get paid for it. Don’t care if you’re just riding the elevator up and down.

I laughed harder at this than I should have
