I saw a woman buying an entire buggy full of bottled water today with ebt.

I don’t think ANY liquids beyond baby formula should be allowed. Drink water from the tap.

People drinking bottled water is a relatively new phenomenon anyway.

I was an adult before I ever purchased a bottle of water.

All name brand foods. Must buy store brand only……

Should be a benefit to encourage getting off EBT to buy name brand

You're being short sighted. I'm all for massive welfare reform but forcing the poor to drink tap water when most of the tap water supply problems in this country are located in areas where majority poor people live isn't very smart.

A better solution would be to limit the time a person spends on welfare and require them to show real proof of job hunting in order to keep it then use the savings to legitimately repair the water infrastructure in this country.

Govt: we will approve purchase of water with government funds because we have failed at one of our primary functions to provide clean drinking water.

That’s a bold strategy

Love going to Albertsons on Fridays and seeing the line of people getting pounds of boiled or steamed crab legs, lobster, and skrimps on EBT.

not choosing a side, but not everyone has the same access to safe tap water.

to be honest, water is far more important than food for survival.

I would guess that food stamps exist due to lobby from corporate food companies more than just a desire to help the poor. Corporate welfare.

So, regardless of what we think, I doubt many products from those huge corporations could realistically get excluded.

Food stamps should only cover beef, poultry, eggs, water, milk, beans, and rice.

Change my mind.

I would rather them buy that than coke or some other sugary and unhealthy drink. Probably should have thrown in some milk, fruits, vegetables, and protein sources.

An entire buggy full of water with nothing else does make me wonder if buying for someone or some event and not for family.

The allocation of taxpayer funds is an important topic.

frick off if you can’t handle it.

I can think of a whole lot of other items before this would even pop into my mind. Water is essential and we don’t know their circumstances.
