In just two years, the city went from being labeled the “Murder Capital of America” to a place that’s turning heads due to its violent crime reduction, according to New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick.
“Sure, it’s part of a national trend, but New Orleans is leading the trend,” said Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams.
Data released by the NOPD in August showed homicides have decreased by 48% compared to 2022. Carjackings are down 68%, armed robberies have fallen 55%, and juvenile murders have dropped by 71%.

its math, the more people you murder, the less people there are available to murder.

"Just don't report them"

LOL
Gang violence is down nationwide since the 1990s.
The Hispanics moved into SOCAL and put hits on the AA gangs. Violence was at all time highs in 1990s. If you look now it has dropped significantly as much of the population has moved or they gangs have killed of its enemy and the enemy isnt setting up shop again.
In NOLA's case they simply shifted the crime to Baton Rouge.

It was back with a vengeance in the wake of the destruction of police departments

I’m sure in a totally unrelated report, Fentanyl deaths and drug overdoses in the ghetto are up the exact same amount that murders are down.

Lol so they gave police more money?

Good news, but let’s not kid ourselves. This can swing back the other way with the quickness. All the things they mention didn’t make the difference.

It was a joke. I'm sure the NOPD is accurately reporting murder stats to a certain degree, but certainly aren't for other crimes.
it is pretty well known that police departments are not self reporting crime data accurately the past few years, through a variety of tactics.

This is far more believable. The same way they’ve incredibly managed to go from 5,114 traffic offense arrests (I’m assuming this is shite like DUI) in 2010 to 43 last year.

So the NOPD gets to essentially grade themselves
I'm sure this will be accurate.

I'm sure this will be accurate.

It really is remarkable
Bringing in the state police certainly helped
Because of the Consent Decree, the city cops can’t do what the The state police can do and it’s working. The heads of the criminal groups know that it’s a different landscape now.

after you kill everyone, there's no one left to kill

I'm not reading all that shite but what I can tell you is this. The number of gunshot wounds coming into the hospital has drastically dropped.

Hmm I wonder what changed in the last 1-2 years?
