a more recent discourse
science has for a long time ceased being a science and has instead become a political/religious construct

Following the science hasn't worked too well since science is no longer willing to accept new information

discuss

Darwinism's "survival of the fittest" is a bit too general, but essentially it means that creatures change biologically over time based on the changes in their surrounding ecology.

So right off the bat, he's wrong in that we can and do witness evolution. It doesn't happen over the period of 24 hours, but it does happen over the course of successive generations (especially in less complicated life like reptiles, mosquitos, and even lower-end mammals) to be witnessed. We, therefore, can witness more from shorter-living species than longer-living ones.

A few examples:

-beak shape changes over several generations have been meticulously documented in Darwin’s finches, this has been especially highlighted in the evolution of finch species via natural selection when droughts hit Daphne Major in 1977, 1985 and 2004.

-the Universe 25 experiments on mice which showed a repeated evolution over the generations into smaller, more poorly socialized and less healthy younger generations as generations came and went with all of their needs basic being met (food, water, cleanliness/health and safety).

-the Lenski long term evolution experiment with E. coli bacteria has documented significant changes in bacterial cell abilities and behaviors since its beginning in 1988. At the beginning, Lenski started with 12 identical strains of the bacteria which has now gone through 80,000 generations.

I believe in Natural Selection. Why are the polar bears white?
a. The black cubs were easy to see and got eaten.
b. God in his wisdom made them white.

I'm going with 'a.'

Scott Adams was roasted years ago when he predicted that the theory of evolution would be debunked in scientific (not religious) terms.

Things change. That's a fact. We have mountains of evidence.

It's the process by which they change that's a mystery.

Polar bears are...black ( their skin) their hair is translucent ...so they blend in and have greater heat absorption

I don’t think that’s a great description.

We know genetic variation occurs just by observing how kids born from the same 2 parents in the same social environment can still turn out very different .

Then natural selection kicks in, where selective breeding for desirable characteristics occurs. The healthiest animals get all the poon and strengthen the herd. The sickly ones watch the show and die off. It seems to be different in humans though. The most successful have fewer offspring while the dullards frick like rabbits.

Yeah, they blend in because they look white. They look white due to natural selection. If they looked black they would have been eaten.

That's because we have the ability to reason beyond what other species can and that we've achieved an incredibly high level of survivability. That excess ability in both categories has led us (at least in "first world countries") to reason our way into seeing non-essential factors (likelihood of creating healthy progeny, safety and security to mates, etc) as being "desirable characteristics".

To put it a little more simply, we're at the beginning of Idiocracy.

By who exactly?

The black and white snowy owl?

Or the black and white puffins?

Or the black seals?

Or the brown sea otters?

Or the brown walrus?

Or the brown wolverine?

Or the brown moose?

Or the brown musk ox?

Probably by lots of animals that existed millions of years ago that are now extinct due to natural selection. Hey, if you want to believe that God determines the color of animals, knock yourself out.

No, I'm just curious how all those other animals survived without any evolutionary color adaptation, being a scientific principle and all?

Or maybe none of them evolved at all. We just believe they did. Because someone made a wild guess that they changed colors at some point

Like the guys with doctorates and PhDs that told us that wearing paper masks, standing 6 feet apart, and taking a vax (that has never worked in human history) could beat a lab created virus, PS: it didnt. Actually prolonged it

During the pandemic, why didn’t science accept natural immunity or herd immunity
Or the natural life cycle of a virus to mutate into a more contagious yet less pathogenic form? Notice how something unnatural was introduced aka clot-shot and we supposedly got all the variants that were worse than the one before. I work in science and this kind of crap pissed me off bc places like (a local research institute), that has nothing to do with infectious disease, hired an infectious disease “expert” so Covid grant applications would be looked upon more favorably by reviewers. Follow the money, science has its place and can be useful but people basically suck and use it for the wrong reasons.

This is absolutely bs. I started dating a girl that was a little more promiscuous and she made a comment about my manpart. Not sure what happened but my DNA mutated over night and let's just say... that's no longer an issue.

But polar bears fear brown bears.
