Going to New York at the end of the month for 3 days and then hitting Boston and up into Main. We have not booked any hotels yet. Can anyone advise on a good area to stay. Prices seem to be extremely high. Any tips?

We always stay at the SoHo Grand. Great neighborhood and we like the hotel.

We like The Muse
It’s in a perfect spot without all of the noise that’s close enough to everything to where you can pretty much walk wherever you need to go.
Cute little boutique hotel for an affordable price
If you are going with the SO, she will love it

Looks great but is over $800/night. Yikes

Yeah we’re usually there in the off season so it’s not that expensive. Still not crazy cheap, but definitely not that.

Grayson Hotel by Hyatt, it's right next to Bryant Park in a decent location. We loved it when we stayed last year.

I like the Lexington. Marriott, reasonable rates for Manhattan, close to Grand Central.

I was looking at this the other day for a potential March trip
The Dominick stood out to me. Rooms look to be big for New York and good value for a luxury hotel. We prefer to stay in West Village/Soho so that was a plus for it as well in addition to being right by a blue line station.

I'll always recommend Club Quarters near Grand Central Terminal. It's 1 block from the subway, plenty of restaurants in the area, safe area, 10 minute walk to Times Square, 15 minute walk to Central Park, Empire State Building, the Cathedral, etc... nice 3/4* hotel.

We have stayed at the Sheraton Times Square (it is a couple of blocks from Times Square) and the Hilton Mid-Towne. Both are in great locations.

Sitting in the lobby of the Standard Highline waiting for our room to be ready. 3.5hrs after it was going to be ready in 30 minutes still isn’t ready. So far I wouldn’t recommend here. Will update if my opinion changes
Edit: the room, view, and location are great. Customer service…a little lacking, but they did let us have a really late checkout to make up for the delayed check in

We stayed at Hotel Edison in June. Great rate and incredibly close to Times Square. Breakfast was included in a nice adjoining restaurant.

I second this. They have a decent little rooftop pool, which obviously doesn't help you in December.

The Roxy is great in tribeca, also the made hotel in noho is a awesome boutique hotel.

Will be there at the end of the month for a few days as well. Apparently it's the UN general assembly. Rates were much higher for the weekend/few days we are going vs just about every other weekend. Just FYI as that may be what you are seeing.
I ended up booking a room at the hotel thompson near central park. I've never stayed at that specific one before, but I've stayed at the one here in savannah and assume it will be similar well see. And the pricing wasn't terrible all things relative.

Last time we went we stayed at The Pearl. Great rooms that are large for NYC. Great location near broadway shows. There is a great bar next door, subway access near it, little store on corner for snacks etc.

We stayed at the Warwick New York on 6th Avenue last time we went. Nothing fancy, but enough to subway stations, relatively quiet, good price, and some good restaurants nearby.

I’ve been to NYC enough that I’m over being super centrally located. I prefer the fidi and the Wall Street hotel is my favorite. They have been amazing every time we have stayed there. The rooms and beds are so comfortable. Service is top notch and their showers are something to look forward to after running around the city all day. Seems ridiculous but I promise it’s the best.

My daughter lives across the street from the Wall Street Hotel. It looks really nice! We stayed at the Hyatt Centric last month, also across the street from the Wall St Hotel. I like staying in fidi as well. It’s safe, quiet, and still close to several main attractions.
