Why was Kirby Smart allowed

Bumbling losses, blow-out losses, etc?
Brian Kelly is a good enough coach to get you in the playoffs…that’s about as good as you can ask for at this point.
The roster is improving, and recruiting is improving….be patient

I’m not sure how Kirby Smart fits into this discussion, but I’m with you on the point you’re trying to make. Across the board, this roster is 100% better and moving in the right direction.
Getting back to the ship was never going to happen as fast as we wanted, but this loss after how the last couple years openers went is what is most infuriating

What are you asking?
Kirby Smart won the SEC and made the NCG in year 2, so he was ahead of Kelly before even considering the 2 NCs he won.

Fans can’t handle losing after thinking they’d win for the last 6 months

I've been patient. He said year 3 was the year to judge him. It's year 3 and for the 3rd year in a row, he didn't have his team ready to win.

Last night’s loss sucks. But there was a lot good to improve upon. The people in meltdown mode are the same who convinced themselves this is a playoff team before the season. I can still see 9-3. That’s going to make many fans angry, but that was the most reasonable outcome BEFORE last night’s game.
New DC. Lots of average players on defense, as well as WR. Replacing maybe on of the 3 best QBs in program history along with two All American caliber WRs. All objective signs pointed to this not being a playoff team. Reality slapped many in the face last night and they are somehow “shocked”

Anybody that assumed we'd win after watching the last two season openers has only themselves to blame. I'm already marking Clemson next year as a loss. All is not over yet though, two years ago it looked like LSU just showed up in the Superdome without even having a spring or fall camp, and they ended up in the SEC Championship.

What have you done for me lately - he inherited a roster with like 38 scholarship players on it.

Because he was a first time head coach, not someone making 100 million dollars with decades of HC experience

While the current recruiting class looks stellar, the current team isn't much better than his first. Outside of the OTs and TE, what position is better? And TE is mostly as a pass catcher, not helping in the run game.
QB - nope
WR - nope
RB - push, maybe
TE - Yes
OL - OT yes, interior push or no
DL - No
LB - push, maybe
DB - no

Mark Richt didn’t leave him a shite roster like Shrimp boat did Kelly, and Kelly still got to the SECG in YEAR 1. This game is obviously infuriating but damn do yall forget where we were 3 years ago stop ed?

They have to show up on campus to make any impact.

And then you have to keep them each year, when others are talking about how much money they could make, or use them instead of sitting behind another player, etc.

I think my frustration lies in how we were in position and likely should have won. If we would have won that game the improvement that we saw would have been evident to all.
If the team responds to BKs anger and holds themselves accountable, then they will improve and win a lot of games and be in contention at the end of the season.
I think BK has the coaching staff the help him with the necessary accountability.
My one big question mark is the play calling of Sloan. Hopefully he improves and is just rusty.

My issue is that this feels miles-esque. I can handle a loss if you throw your punches and a team just comes out and beats you. I can’t handle a loss where we didn’t throw a single punch. Nuss showed everyone last night that he’s good enough. His throws were mostly money and so was his decision making. The coaches should have already known that. But at no point did we try to throw a KO punch.
I can’t understand how an offensive coaching staff can draw up a game plan like that and expect to win. Unless they just thought we’d run the ball at will. And if that’s the case, they didn’t have a plan B which is also inexcusable.
That’s why there’s no free pass. The athletes are in place and the loss is 100% on the clownshow calling the shots.

Year 3 and the team looked like a Curley Hallman coached team last night

Wanna know how I know you weren’t around for the Curly Hallman years?
Posted on 9/2/24 at 6:21 pm to PurpleSingularity
Are we a more complete team than last 2 years? Yes.
The problem is the inexcusable mistakes for 3 straight years that start with Kelly.
