A black bear was spotted near where I live. There was a time when even deer were unheard of in this area and now bears are moving in.

The bears need to stay in the Ozarks where they belong and keep out of Mississippi County. They are not welcome here.

We been singing this same song along the Vermilion River in SW LA for years, and now we are overrun with the 300 pound racoons.

Response from Wildlife and Fisheries??? "We hope you enjoy your bears"

Southeast Missouri?

Are you anywhere near Big Oak Tree State Park? I remember stopping by that place nearly 40 years ago. That area was pretty heavily forested and probably makes for good bear habitat, unless things have changed.

As long as there’s a hunting season on bears, no reason for them not to be welcome.

Personally I am very close to Big Oak Tree State Park. But this bear was spotted about 25 miles north of there near Charleston and Big Lake. I guess it found a food and water source. How it got there I have no idea.

Bears are giving hogs a run for which species will take over faster.

I live in the ouachitas and have had zero problems with the bears. Actually a lot less hogs in the mountains now.

These bears are moving in from north Arkansas. Research has shown that bears are swimming from AR/LA to Mississippi

I'd like to hear an unbiased option on how the massive repopulation of alligators has helped the environment/ecosystem. To my layman's point of view, they haven't done anything good in my area. The lakes around me seemed the same without them than with them. Same for the rivers and creeks. Only thing different I see is you now have to be careful to swim the right time of day and make sure your dog doesn't jump in the water in the warm months.

Black bear spottings have been going on in St Charles and St Louis County.

They are extending their range.

Since the alligator population has increased I've noticed that the nutria population has decreased (at least in some areas). I'll take the gators over nutria any day.

Missouri Waltz I grew up in East Prairie. Hunted 10 Mile Island. Fished Wolf Island Chute. Graduated in 90 and ended up in Louisiana after law school. Almost went home last weekend to dove hunt.
