2013, 2020, and 2023 were absolute clusterfricks in the secondary

What we need to see is can they tackle. Honestly, if they can tackle consistently, that will vastly improve everything. Last year on run plays we'd struggle to get ball carriers on the ground in the run game. It was baffling.

If the defense understands their assignments and is in position, tackling becomes exponentially better because they aren't overthinking and out of position and having to take bad angles or dive at players.

Even limiting 50 yard plays to 15 yard plays (making the tackle!) will make everyhing better. If we tackle, and force teams to work all the way down the field consistently to score, we'll get a lot of stops.

I'm totally cool with bend don't break in 2024.

A mediocre defense would have probably got us in last year, so yeah, any improvement is a blessing.

Misleading when we haven’t had a game yet. Scrimmages do not equate to live games under the lights with noise, chaos, and new plays you haven't been seeing repeatedly for a month straight.

Solid tackling starts from knowing your assignment and being in the play.

It’s hard to tackle well when receivers are catching the ball running away from you

Some people dont realize that even if the secondary is “bad” that is an improvement!
