I wanted to hear y'alls thoughts on a recent development in Idaho concerning public library access.
The new voter ID law has introduced restrictions that prevent teens from checking out young adult books with adult themes without parental approval. This law also holds adults liable if they provide restricted materials to minors.
While I understand the importance of parental involvement in guiding children’s reading choices, Shouldn't we be concerned that this move might be an overreach that impacts the essential role of libraries in our communities. Public Libraries serve as vital resources for diverse perspectives and educational materials, which are crucial for intellectual and personal growth.
The implications of this law extend beyond individual choices, potentially creating legal challenges for libraries and limiting access to valuable information. I worry that this trend could set a precedent that undermines the principle of intellectual freedom, which is foundational to our public libraries.
What do you Trump voters think on this issue? Are we heading towards a slippery slope?

I am not trying to sound like an a-hole - but, not a single thing you typed out in your second post on this website matters to me.
I don't care about books and libraries. I care about being able to pay my bills, be safe in the city where I live, and not getting into stupid fricking wars.
If this is such a huge issue for you where you had to sign up to website to ask this stupid question, then you need to look around and realize that there are much more serious issues happening in this country and around the world - Stupid library books are not one of them

Haven't we as a society always limited childrens' access to certain media and entertainment intended for adults? I remember as a kid not being able to buy certain CDs labeled as explicit. I remember not being able to buy a ticket at a movie theater to an R rated movie. Is this any different?

I think that library's should be closed to the general public and save some taxes. Everything is available on line. Might want to keep part of the library system to store historical stuff , but the democrats hate history.
