Probably, but glad somebody is doing something with that place. City bar has sat empty on Vets for years now.

I used to go to the old one in Fat City. It was a fun place to hang out. The steaks were not prime but were pretty good and cheap. I think that was the main draw. I wonder how much they are going to charge for the steaks now.

Yea for being closed for so long, their prices will have to go up so to everything being more expensive now. It will turn some people away.

That’s was what I was introduced to 25 years ago. It was pretty damn good for how cheap it was.
And one night a week the wine bottles were half priced.
The bbq shrimp sauce dipping bread was very good as well.
Rents are sky high in Metairie so I don’t know how this new version of the place will work out.

Anybody tried their pop up? One person told me it was great, another that it was so so, and another that the meat was so tough it was inedible.

I tried it at the Lafrenere farmers market. It was good but the meat was more cooked than I like. Probably just easier but to cook to temp when you have a really long line. The potatoes were good.
Thigh I miss the dipping shrimp n

Can't wait. Hope they can bring back the atmosphere and the food tastes the same.

One of the main draws was that it was so cheap. Not sure how things will go if their prices are now the same as everybody else

Things are a lot different from when you last saw CJs. They shut down originally bc of rising costs. It’s 10x worse now plus you have to renovate and pay Vets rent. Folks will go once for nostalgia purposes but you’ll see a lot of bickering over price

The whole allure was a cheap steak.
I think you could get a filet and potatoes for like $18-$20
No chance in hell it’s that cheap now.
If they can stick in the $25 ballpark they can be successful. Probably can’t get it to that. Anything over $30 and folks will scoff at it.
