Anyone seeing more used boats hitting the market yet? Waiting to chomp on a covid boat purchase deal in the near future as some predict.

My buddy bought a pontoon during covid. Used it for 3 years and just sold it for $2K less than he paid for it. Good luck.

I bought new cause I hate buying someone else’s problems, rather make my own.
Also prices were stupid high for what I was looking for with zero warranty.

The issue now is everything has gone up a ton, it’s gotta stop at some point but idk. The high end boat market is incredible and just keeps pushing higher and higher. Some of our issues as fisherman is also that every year there’s some new tech that we all spend a ton more on, boats these days are like 2/3 tech and 1/3 hull it seems like

Tons of inventory around. Boat model year changes in August. Then there will be a whole frick ton of non current year models dealers will be dumping.

More are starting to pop up but the problem is everybody who bought during Covid times and overpaid for a boat wants waaayyyy too much because they owe more than it's worth. I think it's better to buy new if you must have a boat right now and catch the leftover year models that are starting to get price reductions. I believe the used boat market still has a few years before it gets better.

I stopped by a dealer yesterday to look at some Bass Cats. Both new and used, prices are still high.

That’s what I bought roughly a month ago. Got the Classic cause I love the storage and front deck.

i sold my last boat during covid after 3 years and made 10%.
I will get another when I feel the value is right. It's a little better, but not where I would like to see it. Maybe after the summer the prices will fall more.

The offshore boats are coming down for sure over the last few months. Price going down in peak season is an indicator that we may see some real discounts this fall/winter.
I don't look at bass/pontoons enough to know about them.

Prices in Louisiana for Bay/offshore are still high. Even ridiculous high in some cases. There are deals to be had if you are patient and search for them but you have to be ready to purchase that day as they don't last long because alot of people are looking too.

Bought mine new in 2016 so I could customize it. I was thinking of selling it and looking online I could sell it now for close to what I paid for it. 2016 nautic star 224xts, Yamaha 200 with 95hrs. Twin power poles and troll motor, radio, gps, jack plate, aluminum trailer with 4 new tires.

Prices for same make/model/year with similar hours are 10% lower in florida than louisiana right now. heck i had a dealer offer to transport the boat here with a decent offer. still holding out though.

My parents can sell their 2005 boat for more than they paid for it. I know inflation plays a role in that but that is just crazy.

Just have to find the right boat with the right seller. I picked up a nice bay boat for 30%+ below book value. I was willing to deal with the sellers loan company to get it done and he had to get out of the loan. Lots of boats listed but they aren't moving at the asking prices.
I wanted a pre covid boat, so it is a little older than I would normally go with, but damn if it isn't the same layout, with the same features of a 2024 boat that costs 75K rigged like mine.

Other day got maintenance stuff for my boat.
Bought a 2017 17'CC G3 new in 2017. Same boat/package/dealer is up 26%.
Dealer said hardly any one is buying because of the 8% interest rates as well....

Saw an advertisment for new boat yesterday.. 4.99% for first 60months then 9.99% for next 120months.. Frigging insane to think about that.
