Anybody listen to Josh Pate on here?

He's usually pro-LSU and pro-Brian Kelly but twice in the past week or so, he's implied that there are things going on with the football program and not everyone is on the same page...hinting there were coaching moves made that were dictated to Kelly. Anybody know if there's anything to this, or this is a national guy gossiping a little bit because it's mid July and nothing else is going on?

With Kelly’s contract I highly doubt there’s any staffing moves being dictated to him.

He also said that there would be an insane amount of starting players from big time programs in the transfer portal and that absolutely blew up in his face when it didn’t happen.

Kelly did hire a shitty defensive staff the first time around.
Tried telling people Kerry cooks was horrible.
If Woodward made him step it up I have no problem with that.
I just find it hard to believe that it was "dictated" to him. Maybe more of a suggestion. Corey raymond?

Watched him enough to sense where's he is coming from. Very seldom, if ever, does any of his "explosive" news come to fruition. He's very good at generalizing, so he can't be pinned down if something does not happen. I agree, with his contract AND not having a "bad" season, can't see him being forced into anything re the program.

Honestly dude, it could very well be Baker too. Kelly loves plucking people he's worked with in the past. Even if he thought Baker was good, could've been pushing for someone he was more familiar with.
But in all honesty, the defensive staff Kelly put together (and road with) for 2 full seasons was pretty frickin bad. So I'm not sure he should be given full immunity again.
He's a great head coach. He's always shown to be spotty with his coordinator hires though.

Exactly.
The only person who could POSSIBLY dictate anything to him would be Woodward...and that's not really Woodward's style. Kelly could go 0-12 this season and not get fired because LSU not eating 7 years of a $100M contract.
At best, there were probably people inside the program suggesting he hire guys with significant LSU/LA. ties (notably, Raymond and Davis), but no one was "dictating" anything to him.

Pate spending his segments arguing both sides of every take. "Could see LSU going 10-2 or 7-5 this year. It is also likely they go 9-3" Dude just covers his tracks so he can say he was right.

His last 3 defensive coordinators at Notre Dame got head coaching jobs.
He normally hires placeholder OCs because it’s his offense. So he hires people he trusts and up and comers to handle it.
Other than Van Gorder and the second year of House I’m not sure how his coordinator hires have been “spotty”
