Most of you crossed the midpoint of your life expectancy by age 40.

You are now on the downhill side of the roller coaster, careening at breakneck speed toward an unavoidable death.

They won’t say it out loud, but most of your loved ones are preparing for life without you. Some are even wishing that you would hurry up and leave.

So why, then, would anyone want to work until they’re 70? It’s all heartache, pain and death after that.

I've been thinking about that a lot. I contracted calciphylaxis and was told 50% of people with it die in six months. Luckily it was caught early and I only had one wound that is almost healed. Still it was scary to think about. On top of that I had failure of a major organ. So right now at 43 I'm trying to figure out how to retire in the next two years.
If I move out the country I think I can do it.
Just trying to find some part time online gig work.

There's a huge difference between working because you have to and working because you enjoy what you do. I've seen a lot of people go down hill quickly once they don't have something to wake up in the morning and go do anymore. I hope to have something meaningful to do with my days until the good lord takes me home.

I turned 40 a month ago and this realization was sobering. They told us all as kids to enjoy it and not take it for granted. Now the work weeks drag on and the weekends are over before they start.

Dang man, if u can’t do the retirement thing there has to be a job that you would actually like doing and in a location you would love maybe another country, just be willing to take the pay cut for the lifestyle you want

The average male lives 72 or 73 years in the US.

Most of us passed the midpoint at 36, not 40.

“Death” is a liberation back to your natural state of being. We are all pure eternal consciousness. Death is an illusion.

Statistically speaking, all US men are past our midpoint by age 38.

Brutal to think about, really.

i have multiple family members that started and built small businesses and worked until the day they passed. for some, the business defines them.

not saying i agree or disagree, but that was their view of things.

i can see myself working part time between fishing/hunting after "retirement". got to do something to keep the brain juices flowing.
