Looks like Trump's sentencing in hush money case may be postponed

Apparently, the Manhattan DA does not oppose a delay in sentencing so Trump's team can brief a Motion to overturn conviction based upon the immunity decision. Would this be good or bad? (If he is jailed after a delay, it would push further into campaign season?)

I think the whole situation is a catch 22 for Bragg and Merchan at this point. The SCOTUS decision invalidating the case is about as graceful an exit as they can get.

The libs won't imprison him now. Every bit of law fair they've undertaken against him has bumped his numbers. If they attempted to jail him now, they'd lose the presidency, house and senat for years to come.

They don’t care about any of that.

After the post trial poll bump and Bidens debate meltdown they're scared to jail him.

The Manhattan DA knew the law well enough to charge DT. They should also know the law well enough to sentence him. Everyone with a +60 IQ knew it was BS from the beginning. Why is DT responsible for cleaning the egg off their faces now?

They care about this cycle and it pushes it from a likely Trump win to a Trump landslide with massive coattails.
And that gives Trump cover to go for anyone who was trying to lawfare him off of the ballot, which the public will be fine with.

I don’t like the immunity angle here. How is that an official act?
Let it get overturned on appeal because it’s an arse legal theory, not on a technicality

Folks forget about a separate SCOTUS decision a week or so back that mandates a unanimous verdict for every charge before any court. This decision will play into the appeal as well as the USSC ruling in the J-6 charges. It’s all adding up and all on the table.

The issue is some of the evidence and testimony was an official act and thus can't be used as evidence. At least that is how I understood it.

Bragg knows that the Secret Service will never let Trump spend one second in jail. Lawfare has failed miserably, and some of these Democrats may finally start seeing the light. The SCOTUS ruled that Prosecutors cannot co-opt non-obligatory statutes to serve as charging mechanisms. That's exactly what Bragg did.

It would not surprise me to find out the SC leaker advised both Bragg and Merchan about overheard discussions of sanctions in the last couple of weeks.

Merchan is going to have a change of heart because he knows he will be criminally investigated once trump wins.

I still dont understand when NDA's with financial aspects became "illegal."

I think the play is letting Trump off and then claiming Trump is so corrupt and powerful, he can get away with anything and we cannot let him back in the whitehouse because he'll never leave office again.
