When the movie is better than the book

This almost never happens because the book is usually better, but I’m listening to Fight Club on tape and the movie is so much better than the book. Book kind of sucks actually, like something a college kid would write in a creative writing class. Gotta hand it to Fincher for making it into such a good movie.
Can you think of any others?

I liked American Psycho much more than the book but I was in HS when I read it.

This is a hot take that is sure to be controversial, but I agree

Hmm. This may be one where the movie is just as good as the book in my opinion.

Cape Fear (1962)
The novel
Is not a battle of wills/wits between the hero and the villain. It is in fact a series of long conversations between the hero and his wife.
The villain appears only briefly in one scene. And his death is "off-camera", then it gets talked about in the past tense instead of us experiencing it directly.

Series so not a movie, but The Last Kingdom seasons 1 is definitely better than the first 2 books.

Jaws is certainly one. The book isn't very good. Hooper frick's Brody's wife and dies in the cage. The shark doesn't blow up. It just spontaneously dies.
Blade Runner is another good one.

It just has to be better than the book.
I haven't read the book but I did try and listen to it and even the audio-version was a frickin' slog.
