Gumbo Weather

I have buddies who refuse to cook or eat gumbo if it isn’t less than 80 degrees outside.
They say it just isn’t the same in hot weather vs. cool.
I for one think that mindset is garbage and will eat and cook anytime of year.
Anyone else think there are specific seasons for gumbo?

I cook and eat gumbo whenever I feel like it and not determined by the weather. Yes, it is a great cold weather meal but my take is this.
I eat hot food at all times of the year. I will eat stews, soups, chili, red beans, meatballs and spaghetti etc. any time of the year, so why not gumbo since it is no hotter than any other meal I eat when the weather is warm/hot.

My wife is like this. She won’t eat gumbo except between November-February.

I don't normally cook it while its 90 degrees outside but my kids are begging for it so I'll soon be making one.

I won’t cook it in the summer, but if I have some frozen, I’ll thaw it out. I do!’t do much cooking if I can’t do it in my air fryer/toaster oven in the summer. My kitchen faces northwest, so the summer sun sets right through the windows and does a good enough job heating up that room. Gumbo just tastes better when you get that warm belly feeling, and that’s not a feeling I want in May-August.

We definitely eat more hearty foods in the winter but I had chicken and sausage gumbo last week.

BBQ gumbo in the summer time is good. If you BBQ chicken and pork steaks, sausage, etc on Saturday and have leftovers, make a gumbo with them on Sunday.

Was at Lula in NOLA Friday a I ordered gumbo...it wasn't bad. And it was hot AF outside Friday night.
But...I understand the "Gumbo Weather"...to me it has to be grey outside and under 40°.

I cook and eat Gumbo year round! Same with Soups and Bisque's!

If I’m craving gumbo, I’m cooking it. Regardless of the weather.

I’ll eat it or any type of soup any day but it definitely hits better on a cold day or night

That’s what I wanted for my Father’s Day meal so my wife cooked it yesterday (first time she had a chance). It was amazing. She made everything from the roux to stock homemade. Started at 11 and wasn’t finished until 7. Was perfect with a cold jucifer! Eating leftovers tonight.
