A Southwest Airlines commercial plane inexplicably dived while landing in Oklahoma City, flying less than 500 feet over a residential neighborhood — setting off altitude alarms and frightening residents.

The dangerously low flight of Southwest Airlines flight 4069 from Las Vegas was recorded by transponders, and caught to notice of air traffic controllers.

Shortly after midnight, the Boeing 737-800 passed by Yukon High School after it was cleared to land at Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City, the Oklahoman reported.

This happened right over a neighborhood. It flew so low it woke up residents and even set off door bell cameras

Need to know race, gender, and sexual preferences of pilots and maintenance staff.

F16 made a turn over our neighborhood at 500 ft a few weeks ago. Cracked a window in our home and nearly made me piss myself.

I’m no mathematician, but doesn’t it have to “plunge to 0 feet” in order to land?

This sounds more like pilot error

That plane plunged at “an abnormally high rate of more than 4,000 feet per minute” before pilots were able to tug the plane up, according to a memo from the airline company to pilots and obtained by Bloomberg.

Based off flightradar24 it descended 4,000 feet in ~ 4 minutes which is 1,000 feet a minute - looks pretty normal - I think this was more of a case of the pilots getting a road and runaway confused, not an aircraft issue. I saw a thread about this on another website that showed satellite views with the aircraft's track overlaid and it looks like they were lining up to land on a highway until the control tower asked them what the frick they were doing.

No, it doesn't have to, the plunge part at least. Though a steady decent to 0 feet is common.

This quote is not about the OKC incident... This is referencing the investigation into the drop enroute to Hawaii of another SW plane.

I just refuse to fly… you could tell me I had $1 million in Hawaii and the only way I could get it in time was to fly, well they can keep the money.

The ATC audio in the link was the most nothing-burger thing I have ever listened to.

Cliffs:

"Low altitude alert, you doing alright?"

"Yea, we're going to come back around"

"Ok"

The DEI-hire Pilot and Co Pilot will get bonuses and commendations for landing the plane safely.

Peej, you don't need to fly when you can move your entire house with a trailer hitch.

What does this have to do with Boeing?

32,000 people a year die in car accidents, are you going to trash on Chevy or Toyota?
