Anyone live in the Port Allen area and commute into BR across the bridge everyday? Is it really that bad or all made up have to cross it everyday?

It depends on which bridge you are using.

When I was in school we used to commute from Baton Rouge to Port Allen at 2:00 AM when the Baton Rouge bars closed.

I'd rather live in north Baton Rouge than do that commute

Husband commuted from Plaquemine to BR for awhile. Mornings were worse than evenings.

Timing is everything. From what I have seen, if you're going to do this, make sure your commute into BR is before 6 AM or maybe mid-day, say the 10 to 3 range.

It just depends on the day and time of day. I've crossed the bridge the past 3 days and have had no issues either way. But I know that tomorrow may be a different story.

it will be a major mess until the interstate construction is completed...

then it will return to the normal mess...

in leaving home or work I would check the traffic app and see which bridge is the best to use...

Too much of a gamble. One second can change traffic for miles.

Have been crossing it pretty much everyday for 45 years. In 1980, I could leave Brusly at 7:10 for a 7:30 class in the Quad. Now, I leave home at 6:00 AM for a 15 minute trip to downtown. If I left at 7:00, that could easily by 30-45 minutes.

Old bridge rarely has traffic back-ups.

New bridge....cross from the west side between 6 and 730 a.m., and you're fine. Any time after that it gets busy. Friday's are the worst for afternoon traffic.

More so worried about the traffic to get the kids to school in the morning.

Made the PA to Pecue Lane run for a year or so. It wasn't bad since it was opposite the major BR traffic. 2000ish.

I also down voted for living in PA.

It’s only bad on days that end in y. The intercostal bridge is the real nightmare.

In other words, you are always an hour late
