Mac trigger warning - His Pels Players Trade Values
Posted on 6/18/24 at 12:22 pm
Posted on 6/18/24 at 12:22 pm
Here's how he has it.
"If all players and assets had a trade value number, from 1-100 (where Wemby is 100), then the Pels would be as follows
Zion -92
Trey -85
Herb - 83
BI- 78
CJ -73
Dyson -65
Hawkins - 60
Jose - 55
Nance - 45"
Thoughts? I think he mostly gets it right.
BI's salary demands are a huge drag on his value. He's simply not worth $50 million.
Only change I'd make is probably lower CJ a little to like a 70. Also not sure Nance has any value at all anymore outside of being an expiring.

I think CJs value is lowered because of his salary is so high.
Funny, but this is way different than what a poster was arguing about Treys trade value compared to Herbs. I was told it was way way higher. Mac apparently disagrees….

Yeah, BI isn't getting 50 million/yr from anyone.

Part of me wonders if the leaks we've heard saying his salary demand impact his trade value aren't coming from the Pels. Lauri was expecting low to mid $20s, but after Chicago couldn't get any takers, he ends up traded to the Cavs on a cheaper deal making $16. Lauri being an RFA and Chicago not wanting to bring him back were factors at play, but if BI gets the message that the league doesn't value him like he values himself, maybe he adjusts his expectations and starts looking for the best landing spot.

Because in the big picture you need a Trey more than you need a Herb.
Let me rephrase:
You obtain an alpha, and then you need a bunch of Trey's to win a championship.

It looks pretty accurate to me

That’s not what was being argued in the thread. It was Trey had way more trade value and would get a huge extension to prove it. I said his value might be less than Herb once he signs that huge extension. Mac thinks its almost even right now. And it’s funny you say that because the Celtics just won a championship surrounded by mostly a bunch of Herbs…..

Yall really do put Herb on a pedestal he has not earned

BI being an expiring is the only reason he’s an asset at this point.

Trey will get a contract that even without the restrictions, Herb was never going to get near when he got his.

Mac also claims that he knows all the offers the Pels had for BI, you seemed to believe that as well...and that's batshit absurd.
Stop thinking what he says is gospel...it rarely is, we see it time and time again.

disagree, herb higher than tm3

Herb made a quantum leap this past season (offensively)...after basically standing still his 2nd year compared to his rookie season. I have a coupla ideas WHY he stood still but not really worth discussing at this point.
Interesting question is...does Herb continue his improvement this coming season or has he already reached his ceiling? JMO: Herb has quite a bit of "upside" remaining...and there's a decent argument to be made that Herb was the 2nd "best" player on the Pels this season...and will solidify that position in the upcoming year.
I fully understand the point of view that NOW might be the time to trade Herb (sell high) but I think there's still just too much possible "meat on the bone" to let this guy go, barring some insane offer, of course. This coming season should answer quite a few questions...on just what the potential of this guy truly is.

Yep. There's still uncertainty about what Max Herb is. After this season, we'll know more. His value is definitely set to either go up or down.

His contract was also up sooner than Treys. What do you think his contract would be if it was up after this year?
Mac thinks they are almost equal now, but Trey will still have significantly more trade value at 25 a year compared to what Herbs getting paid right now? That’s what you are saying right?

OG Anunoby's contract floor is reportedly $35 million. That just blows my mind even with the rising cap.

JMO: I just don't see Herb 's "value" going down this upcoming season. His defense is pretty much "set in stone"...and that's half his value, or more. I doubt he goes 41.8% from 3 this coming season but I could easily see 39% or so with many more attempts. Plus...and this is a huge plus...I see Herb moving out of the corner MUCH more often & developing a much better all-around offensive game. Especially assuming BI is no longer around.
Herb's move away from just standing in the corner 80% of the time...will make his overall game much better and improve the Pels quite a bit as a team...for several reasons I won't go into at this time.

Even with bi wanting a new deal no way is he a 78 and cj is a 73.

Again, you're doing this thing where you have Mac as the ultimate authority on this subject, which is wild.
