We talk shite about these kids/young adults. But there should be some parents who should be absolutely embarrassed as frick if their kid asked them to come to their post-college job interview.

Not sure who they are talking to, but I've never seen it. Inappropriate language, yep. Literally had some drop a frick, shite, and bitch in an interview.

I would add one caveat to this: The percentage listed is the percentage of employers polled (out of 800) who report that they had at least one, singular, recent interviewee who met this criteria:
quote:

Regardless of whether interviews are online or in-person, recent college graduates still seem to struggle with professional behavior. Twenty-one percent of employers have had a candidate refuse to turn on their camera for a virtual interview, while 19% say they’ve even had a recent college graduate bring a parent with them to their interview.

LINK

And while the behaviors listed (other than asking for "unreasonable compensation", which is another animal entirely, in my opinion) are fricking awful, I'm seeing a ton of individuals and news outlets falsely reporting that, for example, 19% of interviewees brought a parent to their interviews, etc, etc. Anyone doing so is spouting bullshite.

ETA: To be clear, I have no issue with the thread title, which is correct. Just looking to clarify the issue generally being I'm seeing so many people reading this incorrectly.

I’m sure you’re right, but even if it was only 1 per employer polled (~192 dipshits), what the frick? How does that even work? Is it like the Step Brothers scene, but with a parent??

I still have a hard time believing the number is accurate. Unless they are polling companies that hire high schoolers

None of those surprise me. Not even the parent one. Kids these days are coddled past the point of rationality or reasonableness. The parents should be ashamed of themselves for not raising their kids to be independent adults capable of simple adult things.

I do wonder if that means parents at the literal interview or id the parents just came with the kid as in rode with them for moral support. Either scenario is ridiculous though. I’m just wondering what it means exactly.

Yeah, anyone actually doing this with their adult college graduate (or even anyone over 16 really) is 100% to blame for such a fricked up situation existing.

Who raised them? That’s where some of the blame goes too.

I imagine there were at least a few slapdicks who tried to bring their parents into the actual interview, but If I'm throwing a dart, I imagine the bulk of "yes" they got on that question were people whose parents hung out in the lobby during the interview.

Which, for the record, is fricking pathetic, but orders of magnitude less pathetic than dragging a parent into the interview room.

It would also be skewed by very large companies. If you interview 100 people for varying positions relatively "recently", it's not exactly shocking that you'll end up with at least one neurodivergent kid whose parents are more than willing to be a crutch.

Also betting it’s the shower cap on hair, pajamas, and flip flops women showing up like that too.

I get that not everyone has money and i don’t think anyone would fault someone for not showing up in a suit but at least try and dress nice. Just a little effort will go a long way
