Appears Jeannie Buss is taking the cheap route on a VERY questionable hire. There is no way these two will coexist. One is a cocky douche, and the other basically is a player/coach that does what he wants. Convince me this will work?

It's a silly hire. The LAL are a brand. You don't hire a coach with zero experience. How does he manage those egos?

He doesn’t! NBA coaches are pointless at this point. Just roll the balls out

Here’s the truth about any coach with LeBron: LeBron wants all of the say but none of the blame. That doesn’t attract good veteran coaches. What it does attract is either new coaches or retread coaches trying to get their way back into coaching.

That's a perfect analogy.

How much experience did Steve Kerr have? I have a feeling JJ will be great actually.

Like I’ve said A huge mistake…. But whatever… the lakers need a somber few years.. not that the media won’t hype them like they do the cowboys every year.

Huh? If the hire is made, it’s exactly bc it’s done to placate LeBron.

They have a podcast together, they’re friends.

He will probably coach most of the rest of the team but the exact reason he’s appealing to LeBron and the Lakers is because he will defer to him on all important things and be the opposite of a hardass (not that anyone has been a hardass towards LeBron in years).

I'm guessing he learned a lot in Phoenix. He did a great job that put him on the map. Not the same as JJ.

It's mesmerizing and hilarious to watch

in case OP didn't already know before he made a post about them

If they make this hire it's because Lebron requested it because of their podcast relationship where they break down game film together.

JJ has a great basketball mind and he understands the game very well. I hope he is successful, but only time will tell

I see this hire working very similarly to the hiring of Steve Nash for the Nets.

I mean Magic wouldn't listen to his first coach so they fired him despite winning a title..

NBA has sort of always been a Members Only Jacket League.

The players run it. If you're not on the court, you're not a member.
