Starting Dutton and bringing in Jump to start the 9th. Great job by Hellmers! But, that said, if you can't hit and score more than 3 runs, you won't win on the regional level. And add in poor outfield defense to the loss.

Every coach in the country brings in their #1 if possible in that situation.

Every single one.

So the questionable moves cost LSU or the lack of runs?

Hint: it’s both but the run scoring isn’t on Jay.

And if he didn’t put Jump in people would have said why did he not go to Jump. The only thing I would have done is left Ack in until someone got on base:

You had your best pitcher against 7-8-9. Who is not taking that option?

Ack has not been good this year. If he goes out there and walks the first guy, the board is melting down, asking, "Why didn't he put in Jump? It would have been over with."

My problem with Jump's appearance was Yeskie's decision to call slider. The batter was late on the fastball. Keep pounding it.

The single that brought him in was luck and bad defensive positioning.

Jump gets out of that scenario 1-2-3 8/10 times. It was the right move. Hindsight is 20/20.

We were always gonna throw a bunch of arms at them until one stuck. Blaming him for starting Sam and not giving him credit for throwing Hellmers is unfair.

Ack had just struck out the 3 batters he faced.

You bring Ack who only pitched 20-30 pitches over your starter that just went 105 on Friday.

Jump comes in 1000 times out of 1000 in that situation.

Jump was fire trying to cover the coaching deficiencies.

The issue is that Ack was solid. Jump is your best guy but you know Ack is working well.

I get the decision but I'm not crazy about it.

Look dude, we had 1 hit from the 4th inning on. That isn't enough to beat a good team like Unc.

You gotta put them away when Hellmers is dealing

Staying with Ack was probably the best decision, but you never know

Dutton needs to transfer. He's not an SEC arm, folks.
