I get a notice from Farmers Insurance of non-renewal. It reads:

quote:

Reason(s) for non-renewal:

The dwelling is ineligible for coverage due to the following unacceptable conditions:

Your prior Coverage A - Dwelling amount, indexed for inflation, would exceed our allowable Coverage A limit for your area, unless the household also has a Farmers personal auto policy.

This feels kind of like blackmail. One should not be dependent upon the other. frickers.

Insure the cars and take the multi-line discount.

My current policy is $2800 every six months.

Farmers quoted $8700 every six months. No multi-line discount is going to make a dent that big.

That sucks and really doesn't seem legal honestly.

How many cars you insuring. If you’ve got a few then you can use one to see if the multi line will work just with a cheap policy

You can thank the new Insurance commissioner for changing the law to allow this.

Farmers cut their roof no depreciation coverage this year from 15 years to 7.

What would be the better alternative? Farmers leaving the state altogether because it can't shed bad risk?

FYI, whatever you do, do not go with Allstate or State Farm on your next policy. I deal with homeowners everyday, they are hands down the two worst insurance carriers.

Tho I’d be curious to see if the tables suggest there is a higher risk than the past in the long view……or is it just chasing profits for the shareholders.

The cancellation notice referenced inflation, so clearly the risk has increased with the increased cost to rebuild, even if the risk of covered loss events occurring hasn't changed.

What is the appropriate amount of profits a company should seek for its stockholders?
