I fully expect there to be an article in 2..3 yrs about an audit of the program states "Audit finds that little known alcoholic program in SF provided vodka and other drinks to kids as young as 14 who were pretending to be homeless"
Or "Audit finds that Nancy Pelisi has 12,000 bottles of vodka in her SF home... Meanwhile little known program that provides alcohol to homeless is missing over 10,000 bottles "

It sounds ridiculous but it’s cheaper than having them in the ER and ICU with withdrawal syndrome.

A motel room, 3 meals a day, and free alcohol? I know plenty of people who would sign up for that.

This is a step in the right direction
Hopefully in his second term Biden will issue beer stamps to us working stiffs

Alcohol is everywhere so I can understand how an addict would be unable to resist. At least with hard drugs you have to make an effort to find them. And you can break off communication with dealers. With alcohol, the dealer is the grocery.

Not ideal but cheaper than an ED visit or ICU stay for DTs.
This is my take as well

Do you know what is alcohol withdrawals and how it can be lethal? frick SanFran but I somewhat know where there're coming from as an alcoholic
Yeah, you need supervision and treatment. Giving them booze is not helping, and are we all gonna act like the free taxpayer funded booze is all they’re drinking? The level of stupidity with the shite California comes up with is astounding.

They wouldn’t be in the ICU. They’re not stopping either way, this program just enables their addiction on the backs of taxpayers.

I want to know more about how suboxone turns people into Brain dead zombies.

You think they are letting them get wasted? It's probably an administered amount to taper withdrawal symptoms.

They sell some awful cheap swill at Walmart. I hope that's what they are giving them. That shite is frickin awful. $4 a bottle and the worst hangover you will ever have

Another potential headline - Pelosi invests in start up distillery that just so happens to be the one contracted with SF to provide the vodka

Google it and you will see people talking about how it affected them mentally when taking it.
People I have been around who are on it have told me the same thing. It just messes with their brain function.

It shows that they really care.
With other people’s money.

I went there in 2014; it was fantastic.
Went back in 2022 and it was a shithole.
I'll never return.
It's sad, really.

How can you be a broke, homeless, alcoholic?

I'd love to see their effective dollar numbers. Like for every dollar spent how much goes to the actual program as opposed to administrators and such. Helping the homeless is a big business. Some people have a vested interest in keeping the homeless, homeless. Probably the same with alcoholics.

Taka red cap?
Or some titos?

Inpatient hospitals used to stock cheap beer in the pharmacy back in the day. I imagine that etoh would probably be safer than giving these people benzodiazepines.

The label used to be "triple distilled premium vodka" no other info
