Because they want to increase their ESG scores in order to secure loans.

Wants less transparency in state government. Doesn't want folks to see just how shady state government actually operates. Dems or Reps. It's the same.

You should go make the poli board great again with posts like these.

Landry’s Administration is trying to push through bills giving the Governor’s office MORE power and control
I predict that the Landry administration will go down as the most ineffective and backwards looking in many many decades. He is doubling down on the very institutional calcification that got us here in the first place. Louisiana is in a bad spot, all the way around. Demographics, income, industry diversification, land loss, education, tech advancement, brain drain, etc etc etc. it can be saved but it will take real leadership and extreme measures of change in the way things are done and with who does them. I am not optimistic for the young people of this state
our citizens keep getting dumber and fatter and more lawless every day. But hey, pigs to the slaughter and all that

What is woke in that article?
I read some and didn't see anything.

The persistent whining about Fox News didn't seem woke? And his insinuation that Landry had a problem with basketball players praying, as opposed to him not liking their arranging not to be present when the National Anthem was played? Seemed woke to me.

Above said…Landry’s Administration is trying to push through bills giving the Governor’s office MORE power and control. That’s the last thing Louisiana needs, more centralized power on the 4th Floor. Those of you saying that Landry “needs more control so he can clean house”, you still going to be good with that if another JBE is elected after Landry’s tenure?
I was warming up to him (supported another GOP candidate) until this power grab stuff. He's acting like a liberal but I guess he's trying to appease his base.

If Landry’s base is of the opinion that Louisiana would be better if more power were consolidated into the Governor’s office to act like a modern day Huey P Long, then they’re idiots.

Advocating for a constitutional convention without any details on what would he’d like to see changed in the constitution.

It’s funny, because I remember somewhere during either during Blanco or Jindal’s tenure, there’s was calls for a Constitutional Convention to try to scale back so many Constitutional amendments and deductions of funds. Moon Griffon, whom I’m generally favorable towards, was dead set against it because “What else are they going to do while there? Increase the state income tax rate? Repeal legislative term limits?”
But now…with Jeff Landry in there, who he’s buddies with, is Moon asking those same questions?

But a lot of them like that Huey P style of governing. A lot of these Boomers that voted for him are the same people that put Edwin Edwards and John Breaux in office. They just don't vote Democrat anymore because of the abortion issue.

I don’t disagree with you, but you also very accurately described the vast majority of this board as well.

And ole Jeff didn't come out in support of the tort reform for auto insurance since he's on his knees to the trial lawyer lobby. That legislation died because the House and Senate are too chickenshit to go against him for fear he's going to retaliate against them. He's Huey P 2.0
I don't like Rolfe but he was spot on in the article. The woke comment is intellectually lazy. After everyone roasted his arse about the basketball anthem fiasco (which he didn't have a problem with before) he crawled back in his hole and dropped it. He only cares about populist opinion. He loves to make a big deal about hot button non-issues. Meanwhile.........LA slips further and further down the tubes.

The media has been hitting Landry hard on medical outcomes and quality of life issues. It’s like they forgot all of these problems existed until he took office.
I am not a fan of Landry but nobody is fixing Louisiana in 3 months.

Kind of expected this when a Catholic with a Cajun family name from Acadiana was elected. Saying this as someone with a sort of similar background….a lot of us seem to want a king and not a governor.
IMO that same demographic that helps make this state so badass and awesome culturally but contributes greatly towards its decline politically. It’s one big and obvious way that south Louisiana differs so much from the rest of the south.

Completely agree. Hell, it ain’t even happening in 3 years.
But Landry trying to give his office more unilateral power likely isn’t part of any sort of real governmental reform equation.

Landry wasn’t the only conservative on the ballot. Unfortunately, way too many people in Louisiana did what you did, out of fear of a repeat of 2015. However, that was NEVER going to be the ultimate outcome with Shawn Wilson being the Democrat in the runoff.
